Yes, and for all it's problems if you have bought shares at 46p or less you could be on for a tidy dividend yield next year, and if we're really, really, REALLY lucky some share price growth!

Yes, I haven't really looked deeply into that option, it was one of things being suggested yesterday pm.
Hopefully the new boss will look into how they can grow the business long term, and possibly spin off the sections which are either not adding to the bottom line, or could be more valuable sold on.

I suppose it all depends on "the sum of the parts"
If the group market cap is say 33 Billion, and you could spin off the parts for say 8 Billion, would the remaining core asset, Lloyds bank be worth more than 25 Billion, if it was still worth say 30 B you could say that it was.
I haven't invested the individual section potential values or contributions to the overall profits to be able to give a valid answer.

I know other large companies have done it successfully.
Consolidation would also make the company more attractive rather than having a sp bouncing around the mid forties, we will see, we will probably end up doing exactly what the governor of the BoE tells us to do!!!!!

Yes, but you have a quarter of your shares!
I would like to see a £1+ sp with the amount of shares I currently own.
If they do a buyback they should set aside say £1.5 B for the next 10 years, at least that way they could still maintain a divi, but I'm easy either way really.

Just hope we have a "statement" of sorts in the next few weeks.
I'm sure the new man will try to lift the mood and maybe get some interest in the SP

Breaking up the various sections could work but some in the oil industry tried it with varying success.
I don't know the answer, I'm happy to keep collecting a rising divi until I either pop my cloggs or find a better use for the capital, but everytime I look at that 71 Billion shares in issue it depeesses me!

You are right but the problem is there is only so much growth a uk orientated bank can achieve, especially short term.
I am more than happy to just sit back and claim the dividends but aren't you just a little bit sick and tired of the sub £1 sp? I know I am!
If they do restart buybacks then for crying out loud do it properly, with a 5 to 10 year plan and get say 20 Billion shares destroyed.
If the bank grows, pays a progressive dividend and reduces the stock pile we could see a £1.50 sp again!!!!

Yes the filter option is there but the constant bickering makes the board unreadable, Sunday being the prime example.
Why ruin the board for everyone else? sometimes the "bigger man" is the one who lets it go and switches off!

Just for the record I'm "bullish" on Lloyds and have a significant holding.
I was not criticising the stock but your ridiculous claim that the SP could be £1.50 within a year or so.
No facts, no evidence but you think its a £100 Billion company.
That will NEVER happen unless they either buy HSBC (joking!) or take Billions of shares off the table!

Nothing in the stock market is guaranteed.
People make lots of money, people lose lots of money.
You shouldn't invest more than you can afford to lose in any one share or sector.
If your not comfortable you only have yourself to blame.

Approx £89 Billion, or the same size as HSBC which is a major world wide bank!
Unless there's monumental buybacks that ain't going to happen.
Just to note that I am a large "bullish" holder, just realistic!

All the news is environmental concerns.
Hydrogen WILL be the answer for all heavy transport, shipping, buses, HGV's and will also play a role in passenger cars.
Battery vehicles are taking off
Hydrogen is being tested in household gas boilers.
Middle Eastern states are pumping money into Hydrogen production.
Wouldn't it be nice if we were sitting on huge areas of resources that the world is going to NEED?
Haven't mentioned the use in existing and future catalytic convertors, or for cleaning up contaminated water from nuclear power production.
