Statisics is a cold subject, lumping together lots of personal stories into general trends. However, sometimes statistics can be used to manipulate people. The point is - are we talking about 'Deaths from all causes, within 28 days ' ? Why don't we report on 'Deaths from all causes, within 28 days of a positive flu virus test' ? Because that wouldn't be valid, apparently. So, it is not about being cold.

Is that 'Deaths from all causes, within 28 days' ? Or, the more valid 'Excess deaths' ?

The whole episode has been very divisive. Maybe that's the point of it ?

The Peppa Pig 'vision' of our future, says it all about the government's industrial strategy. Empty branding is the way to go. We can make our way in the world by importing loads of Peppa goods. They haven't had an industrial strategy for years , really, unless offshoring manufacturing is what you call an industrial strategy.

We have to trade off the problems with 'winner takes all', which may be based on 1/3 or even less of the electorate, against the problems with PR systems.
What about more use of Citizens Assemblies , if we trust the people can be grown up when put in a position of responsibility ?

The biggest vote share nowadays , is 'Didn't vote'. Over 22.6 million votes were voiceless in the 2019 general election, due to our failing 'Winner takes all / ignore everyone else' voting system. The Tories recently won Bexley with a massive 17% of the electorate , due to the 34% turnout. We need to consider new ways for representing 'The people's priorites', which is what the Tories claim they are doing, with a backing of 17%. Perhaps we need Citizens Assemblies, for each important issue - the NHS / transport / climate change etc. If you want to check the above figure, search '22.6 million voiceless general election'.

We trust our elected representatives to act in everyone's long term best interest, and not have snouts in the trough, lie to parliament. Priti Patel lied to parliament, claiming she had consulted the Police Federation, over the Police Crime Sentencing of Offenders Bill. Seems like a no-brainer to consult the Police Federation over that. So, why did she lie to parliament ? Perhaps because the Police Federation has no confidence in her ? She got away with it, anyhow. Don't we care about lying, corruption, snouts in the trough, increasing authoritarianism any more ?

Lets focus on the benefits of Brexit.
Do we know when the financial services will be sorted, in our deal with the EU ? I know they haven't been sorted yet.
Should benefit the share price of horsey , won't it ?
