LC affects a multitude of tissues in the body either because of chronic persistence of the virus in them or long term effects of viral infection there - or both.
The USP of nebulised SNG001 is the concentration of its therapeutic effect in the lungs and avoidance of effects and side effects elsewhere.
If 001 has an effect in controlling LC it is through its effect on the acute respiratory phase of the illness. A trial in established LC would be expensive, lengthy and, IMO, futile. Further evidence of reductions in the symptoms of LC in SPRINTER would be important confirmation of the beneficial impact of 001 in the acute phase of the illness and, perhaps particularly so, in sub-groups of patients, part of that effect being a diminution in the number of cases progressing to some or all forms of LC and/or the severity of their LC symptoms.

I was in this trial. Never had such a spectacular reaction to a vaccine in my life! But glad I got the active agent. To to question: yes it potentially affects SNG to the extent that there should be fewer acute respiratory viral infections due to RSV around to the extent of this vaccine uptake and in the event that 001 is approved as a broad spectrum anti-viral agent. But the effect would be at the margin, not hugely significant; plenty of other respiratory viruses to be getting on with.

I am of the same opinion regarding the face-validity of a meta-analysis or simple pooling of the data from the home trial and ACTIV-2. It is also certain that either approach would yield a highly significant positive result.
I would be astonished to learn that the exercise has not already been carried out by Synairgen or their contracted statisticians. They must be wondering how best to manage this information - in discussions with BP, with regulators and/or discussions with PT managers. Or else, they are already down the path with one, two or all three parties.

The new information in Richard’s AMR presentation strongly reinforces the earlier efficacy messages regarding SNG001 as an agnostic antiviral agent. Small numbers, I know, but potent signals on viral clearance and bacterial supra-infection prevention (CRP and purulence suppression). For me this is very welcome news indeed.

Nobody got wiped out by the drop in SP. A lot of investors got wiped out by selling at an inappropriate time. Just take a leaf out of Poly’s book.

An excellent reminder, Jint, that Synairgen’s raise d’être was and remains the immense clinical problems of COPD and Asthma. Covid has dynamised the company’s development and permitted the pursuance of its R&D programme at a formerly unimaginable pace.

I took this on as an all or nothing punt with my eyes open to the potential pitfalls. The objective odds seemed to strongly favour a positive outcome. They still do in my view. I see no reason to chicken out in favour of a break even outcome now.

The_Palladin, I used to value the level headed and invariably sound contributions of one TLWilliams here. Sadly he - or she - apparently bowed out in the aftermath of the February melt-down. I hope (s)he is well. But they have an able successor in your good self. In recent times I have come to value your middle-of-the-road, even handed and insightful posts, almost as much as I did TLW’s.

Brand, “Medical Writer” is a science-team post rather than a marketing oriented one. Notwithstanding, I share your optimism about the recruitment process. If you need a medical writer you anticipate needing results written up.

Alpha-dog, thank you. Excellent contribution. Does your estimate refer to the total number of subjects, study and placebo groups? If, as I assume to be the case, this is so then SG018 is adequately sized to test the question.

And in the interests of clarity, in case any potential buyers are reading this (LOL) I can confirm that I would regard anything in that range as like stealing candy from a baby. And I believe I am in good company - I can’t see Polygon accepting anything less than £10 per share. If they have to wait until that premium is earned through results I think they have the gonads to do so, as do I.

Tattyhead1, I do wonder why you are invested in a company who’s CEO is, in your opinion, such an incompetent. It seems that SNG should have failed your pre-investment due diligence at the first hurdle.

I imagine SNG will have advisers coming out of their ears right now, only a few of whom we have the slightest inkling of. I believe that the company’s management, led by RM, supported by the BOD and appropriate external advisors are capable of any negotiation required of them.
