Don't talk to me about Italian banks. My joint account still not sorted over 3 months on. Still bouncing direct debits. Lloyds took 8 minutes what Italy are still working on. I presume everyone knows the deadline for claims is August. I was speaking to a broker recently. He told me that over £30 BILLION remains unclaimed. Have had an internal audit of my late wifes A & L loan. Her PPI was paid long after the loan ceased. They cannot process the claim at present never have had a death claim before. I do not believe it. If there had not been an audit they would have got away with it.

I am sorry but this is not a great investment. If you have held them for 5 years you have lost 20% of your investment not counting divs. If that is good I am a Flying Dutchman. Over the same period Glaxo & Reckitt are even Stevens. BP have gone from 475 to 550 with a 5.77% yield too. There is plenty of excellent choice but Lloyds needs another Brian Pittman or even a Jeremy Morse or Stuart Dyer. the leadership is sound but ordinaire like my lunchtime tipple.

Buy backs are manipulation. Better stick to banking. But the fact is value investing is the old king back in town. And from a value point of view Lloyds does not cut the mustard.

I see Corbyn wants to nationalise water withing days of appointment. The stock is mainly held by institutions many abroad. At least issuing gilts will be helpful for pension providers. But what happens when the other ones come along. It aint possible me lud.

Apart from Wetherspoons you will not find french wine in Italy much apart from Champagne. But there again the French do not even sell Burgrundy in Bordeaux. That is how the world is. Wetherspoons have a great range of beers at friendly prices and the wine selection is non troppo male.

Ridiculous reason for not going to these splendid places. In Oswestry lately had haggis with champit tatties and neeps £3.99 delicious. Admittedly the fish and chips were awful! But Ruddles at £1.99 is a plus. I like the way Tim expresses his feelings and of course politics and business are mixed up with each other. Stanstead outlet good and fairly empty when my regular Pret was full to the gunwales. Excellent crisp toast at a good price.

Was very touched by your story. Loved it. There are some great people on this site. My first wife and I divorced and subsequently she died of cancer of the tongue. I was husband no 3 for Brenda but well outlasted the other 2! I was sorry to hear about your divorce too. Brendas friends have rallied round and we are expecting upwards of 40 to the Memorial. Again your taking the trouble to share really helped and yet it was so sad!!

Still think there are huge question marks here. Anyone investing should think carefully. There are better alternatives
