the pay sands are well consolidated, rather than consisting of well-bore-plugging, loose sand, said Allen Huckabay,
Renaissance executive vice president for exploration and development. Geologic studies have indicated that the sands were compacted when buried to depths of 6,000 to 7,000 feet, with subsequent uplift of the rock strata resulting in the current shallow depths, he said."
