Only need to go through a few well data files to recognise that almost every exploration drill on the North slope has operational issues of some kind or other and even the latest and most modern rigs experience mechanical & technological issues.
Based on COP's original Harpoon Plans season 2020 had the original starting date (pre Biden) had happened we should have been OK and almost certainly avoided some of those extra costs as well as having time for a side track imo
But other things intervened and decisions had to be taken, not sure if anyone posting on this board has operational experience on the North Slope but am sure it is damn tough out there.

The mention of US$12.6M was specific to the Merlin drill only per ANN dated 04/12/2020, but it's obvious that if original 88E planned contribution was US$1.3M and final costs to 88E US$9M then there has been a substantial increase in project costs particularly if APDC have contributed their share.
How that breaks down between well, wireline & snow road/pad costs is an unknown.
The "Biden Dither" and mechanical issues that probably led to the additional wirelines costs will all have played a part.
We will have to see see if a truck based rig is utilised again, a more conventional rig Kuukpik Rig#5 ( as used for Icewine) was used to drill Umiat-18 & 23H.

today 128 of 299 trades below £50 that is ~42%, not sure how that compares to average but looks a lot to me.

I see so many posts that do not fully comprehend that the latest dictums from the Biden (or his acolytes) relate very much to the AWNR , been a good tool for a few to beat us over the head with but tract 29 was always a gamble and DW understood that entirely.
My glass is definitely half full here, did very well in 2015 -17 and after stoking up post Charlie-1 had plenty of shares to play with during the OTC episode, am sure I am not alone.

if investing in shares is primarily about making money then I have done extremely well with 88 Energy even if as yet we have not secured that big prize.

a large percentage ~70% of trades today are very small value (less than £50), a poster in HC reckoned that it was similar in ASX with "the bots" in control.

COP have had two permits for Greater Mooses Tooth unit in the NPRA subsequent to Merlin, these are classed as "service" drills rather than exploration requiring ice(snow) pads and roads.

Story relates to ANWR leases, remember Biden has effectively given green light to Willow in the NPRA (so sure has also assured COP as to future of NPRA).
ANWR always a hot potato, we have the one lease that abuts Yukon, whether we will retain and have rights to oil extracted via our state leases, who knows.
