Rather than a Challenger I would like to see Metro rebrand as the Alternative Bank. Rather than chasing the heard, serviced by the big four, Metro needs to become a Specialist - thinking bridging loans, equity release, ex pats etc etc high margin products ignored by the traditional banks.

They are monthly "Save as you earn " schemes - a tax efficient way of purchasing shares in the Company you work for. The maximum amount you can invest varies from Compny to Company up to an HMRC maximum of £500 per month. Metro hsve set their monthly maximum @ £150.

Well in my experience, and the experience of other SMEs with whom I have contact, the competitor's have changed their stance and see this situation as the opportunity to expand. At the end of the day the business that provides the goods or services required will survive and grow.

Of course any business will always look at the bottom line hence the need for to negotiate with the alternative service providers whom, in my experience, have agreed good terms & SLAs.
At the end of the day getting products to customers is paramount, the basis of many modern enterprises and recent action is accelerating that use of competitors if that is really what IDS is hoping to achieve.

Well one thing is for sure the posties parcel deliveries will be much lighter in the future - my SME, along with many others I know, have negotiated contracts with alternative delivery services .
