RE: Outstanding piece on Helium shortages here, just tweeted by Baron Inv12 Mar 2026 08:45
A key piece in that article from Baron is that Russia's facility (currently they supply 9% of the world requirement of Helium at the moment) has been designed to provide 30%.
Given that before the crisis Helium was in an oversupply position (Gasworld webinar recently discussing the closure of the Straight of Hormuz), once this malarky in the Gulf is over (who knows when but it will end) and given that the removal of Russian sanctions will be part of the price to be paid for sorting out Ukraine (and the need for LPG given that Qatar in particular will need months to restart and get back to pre-conflict production levels), that does not bode well for Helium pricing in the next six months to few years.
Low cost producers of Helium will be the order of the day.
