Doc, you will have no doubt seen the independent scientific evidence stacking up over the last weeks that shows the delayed initial interferon response caused by covid, and the opportunity to counteract that with early application of INFb. Activ will have already combined our home trial data w Activ P2 data before progressing SNG001.

The issue of course with the home trial was that not enough patients in the placebo arm progressed to severe illness to show statistical evidence of efficacy.

So SNG rightly wanted the most bang for their (somewhat limited) buck with P3, giving the best opportunity to return a strong differential between Activ ingredient and placebo, in a patient cohort no other pharma looks to be able to crack.

The Activ trial running concurrently, without the budget constraints or hard parameters of a private trial, lets SNG also target all potential covid patients without having to pay for large scale trials required to show statistical significance.

So it's not really a second bite at the cherry, but an extension to the sprinter trial.

• IFN-ß plays an early protective role in Sars-COV-2 infection and can mitigate disease progression.

• LAV and agents fostering innate immunity, including IFN-ß, may represent first-line strategy for controlling viral pandemics.

It's such a unique situation, with Activ able to include outside data and having access to study a drug which is likely to come under consideration for EUA shortly.

Doc - that's the thing tho right? SNGs goal isn't to pump the SP, it's to commercialise their product. Making a really big noise with results would be part of that, but waiting until all the traders, brokers etc are in situ wouldn't make any difference.

How's building that narrative going Andybe? I see your punctuation has got better lately, have you got a new admin?

If they've got the data ready, then why not? There's nothing to be gained by waiting.

I've been turning over (from a marketing pov) whether it would be better to release results this week or next. This of course assumes that data is ready

CW would say this is a dead news week, holidays etc. But, that also offers the opportunity to really own the news cycle, assuming you've got something that can genuinely turn heads.

Given what P3 data will likely show, I think there would be a huge opportunity for SNG to release data tomorrow, which would dominate the airwaves in to new year w a good news story.

Great to see a study that builds on so much of the day we've seen over the last 18 months. What this paper says to me is Sprinter is just the beginning :)

I generally try and steer clear of these convos, but I think the question that needs to be asked is, is it the vaccines or is it covid that's causing the on field heart issues in football. Covid obvs can cause heart problems so it seems the most likely answer, but if it's not acknowledged and just swept under the rug (nothing to see here!) then of course people are going to speculate and come up with other ideas....

Scientists then measured how much the virus grew and assessed whether the innate immune system was activated (or to what degree) by measuring the amount of interferon produced.

Researchers observed that the levels of interferon produced during Alpha infection were far lower than all earlier SARS-CoV-2 variants, which had principally seen mutations to the 'spike' protein.'

I recall listening to a very clever chap some years ago refer to working with interferons as 'playing with fire'. The potential to cure almost any virus was there in your hands, but the application had to be incredibly precise and limited to avoid collateral damage...

It's the bottling of that fire that SSH and the team at SNG have pulled off - it's quite genuinely opening up a field of therapeutics that previously hasn't existed and the potential is almost limitless... So excited to be invested.
