RE: Trial took a year, but neither RM or anyone on the team knew about the steroids?23 Feb 2022 10:19
Well here I am in general agreement with NDN/Andybe, doesn't disaster make strange bedfellows!
Some thoughts...
Paramount is the safety data, INF use has a long and complicated history and from up close experience I know the side effects from systemic administration can be downright horrible - this shaped medical opinion after its introduction as a 'wonder drug' in the 90s and was a huge hurdle to overcome. Further, the 'timing of SNG001' issue also looks to be put to bed, with the drug proving safe in 'late' administration to hospitalized patients
There is a huge amount of data regarding SNG001 vs Covid, almost all of it positive between P1/2/3 in hospitalized patients and ACTIV2P2 and the UK home trial. Given the FDAs involvement in deciding the parameters of sprinter and NIHs intensive study in ACTIV, will they let RM and team 'Pfizer up the data' and consider EUA across the full body of work? There are literally 1000s of people dying everyday from Covid - 40% reduction of severe disease or death above and beyond the much improved SOC sounds pretty damn good.
Ray Jordan - last hurrah of bullish SNG and never to be seen again, or Winston Wolf, coming to save the day? TBC I guess
ACTIV 2P3 - this is what it's all about now. Looking at SAB, they got a 60m USD grant and I believe a conditional pre-order based on progression to A2P3, will SNG get similar? If so where would the SP be then?
RM - hard to make any judgement w/o knowing the details, but obviously he's the boss so the responsibility lies with him. Gonna need to be a pretty stellar performance when he finally makes an appearance. I think it's right to let the dust settle and let the data be analysed and then come out swinging.
There's more.. long covid, Poly increasing/decreasing (I think increasing but we should find out soon enough) and of course SNG001's ability Vs Influenza, RSV etc.
Monday was an almighty kick in the nuts, it wasn't a fatal blow and this isn't over yet. Maybe I'm hopelessly optimistic, but we know it works. Here for the long haul.
PS - NDN surely we would need to share that Nobel prize no? ;-)
