RE: TLOU - I took more29 Jul 2019 20:40
Chris, to finish the story, now I know I am not teaching you how to suck eggs, Botswana asked for bids to supply 100Mw.
Tony does not want to commit us to today's prices because the Southern African grid traverses several countries and all need more energy. He therefore expects the price to climb for years to come. His piecemeal increments should be ever more valuable and we have the freedom to supply anybody - we are not tied to Botswana!
We have a rival bidding to supply Botswana's power but they stated they were not interested unless they are offered a big deal.
Imo, the 100Mw quote arose from their demands. The alternative was Hobson's Choice, just TLOU , not a comfortable place for the BG? We are way ahead of that rival - when I bought in nearly 3 years ago, Tony said Sekaname were 2 years behind us- you cannot find much about them, except they are effectively the Botswanan office for Kalahari Energy.
As chukkers says, Tony has been very reticent to ramp this share - he has been pointing out the warts all along - only when we got the all clear on potential hurdles did he give an inkling that it was getting easier! How? He could not suppress a smile! It was a breathe of fresh air that only the old timers here would have picked up on. A definite air of confidence though he is still using words like crucial and critical regarding gas flows now. If we come unstuck it won't be due to idle promises from Tony. He made 1bn and 4Bn from his first two companies , and said ,3 years ago, this was a much better prospect so you pay your money and you take your choice?
