Strider, yes you`re sort of right, I`ve been adding, or building a position during the downtrend in CNR, as an investment strategy. Its my only remaining longer term investment and no I didn`t expect the fall to carry on as it did. But it turns out that a big sell was being put through and the price consistently fell without anybody knowing why, although the big seller theory was discussed constantly on LSE. When price was attractive enough the Directors and main investors piled in soaking up the whole remaining sell order, hence the recent recovery, I did add during the fall but not at the bottom because I already had enough for one stock. I`ve held shares for around 2-3 years and only sold once or twice, but soon bought back in.
I don`t trade with all of my portfolio, its a mix of both.
The sentiment is so good now that yesterday it was one of only two shares I either hold or watch that actually rose, during all that turmoil!!
Very exciting times over there now after a long wait for permits and a strong relationship with the locals....have a read of their recent RNS`s and have a look at Mark Childs` presentations and interviews and I dare say you may be tempted at the current level, specially with the big seller out of the way.
Very happy to hold for the outcome of the funding for building the mine, which could very well come from processing feeder pit gold through one of the other miners in the district, so could be a producer sooner than the market realises.
Back to Solg, I`m more of a trader here, so my stop loss is still a break below 34p, and my target is 42p minimum, with a view that a decent RNS could send it higher than that and would test my TA attempting to ride any rise as high as possible before selling.
All depends on the `flavour of the reason` for any rise ie if I`d have been holding when BHP added at 45p then I would have been watching that level like a shytehouse spider to see how price reacted to it, and then sold somewhere above c42p because it never even peaked above 45p and clearly got sold into.
Next news could be better than that....or not!!! Ha ha ha!
All eyes on the RNS feed then.
