I think it is often easier to sit on a loss than a big profit, all a question of greed verses fear! One strategy I employ on the volatile stocks is after a decent up lift, take out original investment and run the rest buying back in with the allocated wonga for that stock, on the dips below my exit price, this helps build up bigger positions and a cushion on short term drops over time I have found this gives me very good returns, I am not a day trader which engages with completely different technique. Each to their own.
