Wonder if this will /when apply in Botswana18 Dec 2024 11:11
"Energy companies have promised to spend almost £70bn over five years to help rewire Great Britain’s electricity infrastructure in the global race to shift from fossil fuels to clean electricity. The companies that own the high-voltage power system – National Grid, SSE and ScottishPower – have submitted spending plans totalling about £68bn to the industry regulator Ofgem for the period from 2026 to 2031, which could support about 100,000 jobs. The proposals must still be approved by the watchdog, which is expected to balance the need for costly investments in upgrading the power infrastructure to meet climate targets, which is paid for through energy bills, against the need to protect customers from rising costs."
Botswana actually has a good transmission grid - probably because it is relatively new and not been required to work at max capacity always. That said, if the UK grid was developed for coal based power generation and they need to upgrade to/for cleaner energy sources, I am wondering if the same logic applies to Botswana.
It should be the southern africa capital for solar generation, yet they cannot get this financed and rolled out in a meaningful, concerted, controlled way - as always, Why is that Botswana Govt ?? But this surely is coming sometime / eventually .... And does that bring this type of problem into view, which sadly will be yet another logistical hurdle that non-coal based power generating IPPs will have to navigate (on which they dont have control).
Isnt a negative post about Tlou (in case some of you can read but cannot understand - quite a few of you here like that) - just the usual rollocks that goes on down there.
Well said Tony - great country, great coal, wonderful opportunity, blah blah .... give me your money ..... Ah, dont get me started.
