What is IHT?

It’s and odd piece. PHC growth has been brisk in the last couple of years. My sense is that there’s a further spirt coming late this year and into next year with distributors being chosen for new regulation approvals in Poland and Brazil. Meanwhile the SP has been stagnating at the bottom of AIM. We have underperformed in this context for sure, but nothing wrong with the company IMV, and bear markets don’t last forever.

CR mentioned many times about the need for consolidation in the AgroTech space and that PHC was in a good position to participate in this. Interesting that JT has been far less vocal about it.

What I’ve not been able to work out is whether PHC is a predator or prey.

As predator it’s too early; profitability must be the target first. We have no war chest. As prey, PHC are vulnerable; but profitability a barrier here too. Who would buy a company before the business model is proven? So I tad early on both counts. Give this two years and the situation will be different.

More great news potentially boosting sales in H2 but defo next year. Good steady growth into the huge EU market, well done Angel and the Europe team!

In drought conditions the difference between ProAct use vs. No ProAct use is even more marked towards greater yield.

ProAct also affective in cold conditions.

California is important, but more important is Africa (via Dux Agri) following the Russia/UN grain deal collapse. Sadly I can see famine of biblical proportions there next year, they need to act now.

As for the competition, testing and registration are just the start of the journey; they need to convince farmers who have used tradition fertilisers for decades, to change their practises. LinkedIn shows PHC promoting ProAct and PreTec globally and the new injection of cash from investors will accelerate this process.

Farmers profiting from the new technology will gloat about it to others and word will spread via the farming community - the best form of promotion. Snowball effect.

It all depends o who gets the snowball turning first, and PHC have been quick off the blocks - and on a global scale.

Looks like the Cerberus heatwave across Spain and Italy will be giving PREzym and ProAct a baptism of fire in Southern Europe. If these products protect trial crops in the searing heat (and they will), farmers will be hooked.

Time to push the heat angle in Europe PHC.

Wilbur-Ellis Agribusiness and Plant Health Care have a new distribution agreement to support the sales of OBRONA. The foliar fungicide was recently approved by the EPA. Wilbur-Ellis will offer the product for control of tar spot, common rust, Gray leaf sport and Northern corn leaf blight in North Dakota, Minnesota, South Dakota and eight other states.

Towards Sustainable Potato Production: Harpin Boosts Calcium Use Efficiency

Calcium is an essential nutrient for plant growth and development. It plays a vital role in ensuring optimal potato health and tuber quality by promoting cell wall strength, mitigating disease, and improving storage quality. Harpins are naturally occurring proteins that are known to enhance plant growth and improve resistance to abiotic stress. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of a harpin protein on calcium use efficiency (CUE) in potatoes.

In this series of studies, commercial potatoes were grown in British field conditions and treated with 1% harpin ⍺β. The results showed harpin ⍺β treatment increased calcium content in potato tubers compared to the control. In 2019 (Cambridge, England) and 2020 (Angus, Scotland) foliar application of harpin ⍺β with a commercially available calcium nitrate fertiliser (224 g/l Ca0) increased tuber calcium content above treatment with the calcium nitrate fertiliser alone (P
