Lasttrain in case you hadn't noticed all negotiation has been done by a remain pm and craven civil service. If it was up to brexiteers the EU would have informed that we were going WTO 2 years ago.

Also not sure it's the end of car industry as exports to EU won't disappear totally and are about half of car exports are to non EU countries, with FTAs with China and use that could grow rapidly. So the industry won't disappear entirely, that's rather too pessimistic.

Cc you don't think the over regulation of cars by the EU might result in less efficient motors and a stifling of innovation? Any chance of this? Electronic motors at present aren't that efficient and have a short life, nor is there no environmental damage. We have around 300 years of lithium so it's a fairly short term answer. Wouldn't we be better putting all this money spent in green technology in to a truly clean form of energy like nuclear fusion? If that works we have limitless supplies of cheap and clean energy, surely this is where the smart money is? Also it would pretty much end poverty, or go a long way as there'd be an abundance of very very cheap energy.

I'm also struggling to remember when banning pretrol/diesel cars was in any parties manifesto. This is once again idiot bureaucrats imagining they can plan the future, I bet these ppl have no idea how a combustion engine works. It's not the business of government to plan how cars should evolve. We consumers are far better placed to make that choice. If central planning of cars by bureaucrats is so great why isnt the Trabant the finest car in history?
