To add from comments earlier today I see there is a recent solar farm opened in Siberia, sounds like a strange place to have a solar farm but in actual fact Siberia is an ideal place, whilst it is cold for winter the summers are very hot. Also whilst most here will not realise you cannot have sub 30oc with it being cloudy. It is also an unusually light place during winter, never gets dark like here in UK.
Another unknown fact is Siberia is one of the wealthiest parts of Russia, with varying parts only dropping down to around -35oc during winter with other parts falling well below that, it is a huge continent, parts will be well suited to storage, others not. Those more colder areas are more for O&G industry anyhow.
redT I am sure could make some valuable sales in these types of areas, although they will need a specialist team to do so. British banks are happy to lend big money for trade into these areas: -
November 14 (Renewables Now) - Russian solar company Hevel on Monday announced the commissioning of a 10-MW solar park in the Republic of Buryatia, Siberia.
The solar module manufacturer, a joint venture between asset management group Renova and government-owned technology company Rusnano, is the investor in the project and also carried out its construction.
The photovoltaic (PV) facility is situated near the village of Bichur, eastern Russia, and is expected to produce over 14.5 GWh of electricity per year, saving 7,685 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, Hevel calculates. The Russian company started building the facility in May and completed works on schedule. It used 70% locally-made equipment.
