Morning fordm. Completely forgot about Thanksgiving Day. I put my sunny disposition today down to a stressful day yesterday, even though I didn't have much to do - but a series of seemingly straightforward tasks turned into a series of nightmares, due to a combination of technology, incompetence, bureaucracy, apathy, greed, and plain stupidity. Seems to me that that's how it is all the time now - what looks (and should be) relatively simple, turns out to be fraught with unnecessary and avoidable problems. Or maybe I'm just going nuts. Either way, I find the modern world increasingly baffling and stressful.

Apologies for straying off topic/ranting. Is it too early for a drink?

As a long-suffering holder here, it's hard not to start each day wondering what fresh calamity might befall us, and further decimate the share price. Perhaps some more ill-judged remarks from the CEO? Maybe an Ebola outbreak traced to Terminal 5, or a rabid baboon escaping from the hold of a 747 mid Atlantic, and running amok in the first class cabin. Perhaps another financial crash? (The next one can't be too far away).

Whatever it is, the litany of headwinds here seems to be never-ending, and even when there appears to be some "good news" - such as record profits - it still manages to put a dent in the share price.

Anyway, I like to spread joy whenever I get the chance. Have a nice day.

Skindle - your post kind of sums things up here - ie. it can take weeks to "claw back" what it takes a few hours to lose ( or a few hours to lose a month's gains). Seems to have been that way for a long time now. If you can time it right, I guess you can make a few quid day trading,(probably over a few days of excruciatingly slow gains), but then you could also lose a packet in an hour or two. If only I was psychic. On that very point, I see that having lost 8 pence yesterday, we are up about 0.5 pence today. Nuff said.

As for 'Clown of the year', I don't disagree with any of your choices. Unfortunately, I can quite easily think of about 2 dozen names that could easily be added to that list (and probably many more) - mostly from our political/ruling classes. No wonder the country is in a mess. And it's only November - if the poll closes on Dec 31, that still leaves 6 weeks for more ****wits to step up, and put their names in the hat. No doubt they will.

Who would have thought that just an hour or two after Bailey looked a shoe-in for this award, our very own CEO/CFO would leapfrog him to occupy the top two spots ? (for now at least).

I feel for you Desertsands - but at least you are not alone. Many others here (myself included) are in a similar position.

Thinking of setting up a support group for survivors/victims of the IAG catastrophe of the last few years. We could meet in a designated pub once a week to b***h and moan about how covid reamed us (without lube), and about how much better our lives would be, financially, emotionally, and psychologically, if we had made different choices. And we could also discuss our choices for 'Clown of the Year'.

Now I'm (clearly) no fan of Bailey, but if we are going to have a serious contest as to who wins this highly prestigious award, I think it is only fair ( not to mention depressing) that we acknowledge there is a huge amount of competition this year.

IAG was actually named in a feature in the Mail on Sunday today, as potentially being a "bargain" stock, that ( by most criteria) would appear to be undervalued. Let's hope they're right.

Hi fordm - thanks for the response, but must admit I am completely in the dark about this Pelosi stuff. I gave up nailing my scrotum to the table as a form of foreplay quite some time ago.

I nailed it last week, with my "125 - 175" prediction, so I am going to have another go this week.

Not one to boast, but I did make a prediction last Sunday for this weeks COP price. I do believe it was "between £1.25 and £1.75". So I was clearly spot on. My abilities in this sphere border on the paranormal. Look out Warren Buffet/ Mystic Meg - I'm coming for ya.....

Fordm - apology accepted. Good post, but it will never happen - I don't see how Jezza (or any other politician) can tell funds where to put their money, and money will always follow the money.

A few years back I had shares in a small pharmaceutical company called Silence Therapeutics; they moved to the NASDAQ, and last time I looked they were worth about 50 times what I sold them for. If I had kept them, I would now be a millionaire, instead of which I have £12.21 in my wallet. C'est la vie.

Danphonic -While many people claim to be experts, very few actually are. You probably know as much as most of the so-called 'experts'.

PS - Jeremy Hunt (with unusually impeccable timing) has just appeared on my TV screen. Is he weird or what? Is he even a real human? He looks and speaks more like some AI creation. Then again, most of them do. Not that I'm biased.

Watching the share price here desperately trying to hang on to 160 reminds me of that unfortunate young lady at the beginning of "Cliffhanger", who is trying to cling to Stallone's outstretched hand.

Let's hope we don't suffer the same fate she did.

If we don't have a positive day today, it's time to give up.

Where will the price here be, come close of play Friday? Well, for what it's worth, I predict a few days of sluggish incremental gains, taking us back to 156-ish, before it all gets wiped out in one session come Thursday/Friday. Of course, if I was entirely confident in that scenario, then I would sell out later in the week, confident in the knowledge that I could buy back in cheaper a few days later. If only it were that simple, then nobody would have a day job.

Basically (like most of us) - I haven't got a Scooby-Doo what is going to happen. If I did, then I wouldn't be on a share forum on a Sunday evening, would I ? Nope - I 'd be on a beach in the Bahamas, surrounded by several bikini-clad young Scandinavian/ East European ladies.

So, for what it's worth. my prediction for 4.30 pm next Friday is somewhere between £1.25 and £1.75.
