According to India’s health ministry, 7,830 additional Covid-19 cases were recorded on Wednesday (April 12), bringing the total number of active cases to 40,215. The health ministry also reported that there was no evidence of a rise in hospitalisations or fatalities but added that the prevalence of XBB.1.16 jumped from 21.6 per cent in February to 35.8 per cent in March.
