Yeah, ive seen them having fun with a relatives garden before.

Badgers and moles, a lethal combination for a lawn, lol.

The moved on eventually though, lawn looked like a freshly ploughed field in patches, was quite funny lol.

The policy is just nuts.

Its either born of ignorance, or a land grab designed to enable the Gov to industrialise the countryside as part of its "green" energy drive.

Your analogy, whilst unusual, is perfectly serviceable, not in the least bit offensive, nor designed to be so.

If donalb genuinely considers this "the most disgusting post ever" he must either have a broken moral compass, or an acute personal sensitivity requiring remedy not regard.

Imo, "case closed" is suggestive of a smug moral arbiter.

In any event, ones own sensitivities, faux or otherwise, are no grounds on which to censor the rest of the world.

Have a few related tools that were passed on to me from a former farm hand.

They knew how to make tools that lasted back then.

I still have them, function just as intended after a bit of grease and a quick sharpen with a whetstone.

Gov are no friend of the countryside imo.

Yeah, even harder times.

I know a lot of farmers. They work long long hours 365 days a year, many with little to show for it, but their work is so vital, not just the food they produce but as custodians of the countryside.

The family farm is indeed an asset, but one they can't cash in, unless they deprive the rest of the family from continuing to work the land and produce the food we need.

It's the worst policy to come out of the Budget imo.

As expected there is significant pushback on this policy.

Tim Farron:

"The Chancellor’s budget is a disaster for tenant farmers.

Small family-owned farms will be hit by the changes to inheritance tax and will be forced to sell up, with young people robbed of their opportunity to farm.

We’ll be fighting tooth and nail to protect family farms."

Don't know what the Gov are thinking with this one.

Some good points, and yeah i tend to agree, though schools etc do need to be fixed, quite desperately in some instances.

Just feels like they haven't got the balance right.

Hopefully it settles down, but it's a lot of spending and borrowing for little economic benefit.

Much of their infrastructure spend is on ideological projects rather than invested with the intention of boosting growth and productivity.

Another chunk of that spend is to fix things like schools that the Cons allowed to crumble. Necessary, but not the same as building a new road link in terms of its economic impact.

I think road building plans may have actually been scaled back. (but dont quote me on that)

Warning of further tax rises from IFS !

"Paul Johnson, head of the IFS, also warned of likely further spending and tax increases part way through the parliament.

He accused the chancellor of playing the "same silly games" as previous governments by "pencilling in implausibly low spending increases for the future in order to make the fiscal arithmetic balance".

"I suspect we’ll end up with even more spending, possibly considerably more spending than is currently planned," he said.

"That will probably mean, unless she gets lucky with growth, more tax rises to come next year or the year after."
