Just another thought.

The thing with the examples you give is that they aren't really free speech issues. Sexual harassment is sexual harassment. Overhearing a person make a sexist remark is, just part of life.

Again with the second example, you are talking about a person or persons targeting an individual with direct abuse, which is harassment, and a crime.

The free speech issue is an employee overhearing a conversation in which one person makes a discriminatory remark in conversation. Reporting this to the police, and the landlord being held accountable.

Yeah, it's just a question of degrees obv. Personally i feel the state is over stepping, thats all.

Lots of examples, and many of them under the Cons too. Though i do feel Lab tend more toward limitation than previous administrations.

The issue is one of perspective, what's offensive or not is subjective, so within reason, i lean toward freedom of expression over a more authoritarian approach.

Some Pubs ive frequented, i dont know how to describe them, a den of iniquity, lol. You cant go locking all those folk for being crass, classless and rude.

So as i say, it's about degrees, and recognising than no single earthly entity is beyond moral reproach - so the issue becomes who's making the rules

It's all this offense culture, an inability to tolerate robust conversation, some seem to think people who dont agree with them are inherently evil and need to be jailed for their thoughts. Gov/police seems happy to oblige them.
