The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
I forgot about face masks HNS good point, not even sure where mine is and it will need a spin in the washing machine
Looks like I'm the only one who may stay overnight then, probably have to book a movie at Wandsworth Cine if we aren't having a pre-night party lol
If you don't want your CINE shares Sammy then share them out here we'll have them lol
@Mountainous damn I wish someone would win it its costing me a fortune putting on extra tickets for the mega jackpots > 100 million! I only need a few hundred for the AGM though maybe at least one ticket will do that on 4 numbers.
Yeah the return part Wandsworth to Crewe was over £200 ffs
I couldn't sleep on a coach and if I did I'd keep everyone else awake making loud snoring noises lol
I think it's easier from Euston than Victoria isn't it? Tube to Vauxhall and train to Wandsworth Town 2 stops down?
I think Barbara loved the shouting Mountainous, we all thought that would go against their case. The more insane ranting, shouting and banging the table the better for Silly old Barbara
@HNS_77 are you staying in Wandsworth overnight too or are you close enough to get there in the morning?
Thanks Mountainous I'd love a private jet down. Alternatively of course if I win the Euromillions jackpot tonight I'll definitely be in Wandsworth Wednesday night.
Just you and HNS_77 have confirmed attendance so far I think? I'm getting inspired to book it lol
You mean Crewe to Wandsworth Town return? I think I got it to £92 from Shrewsbury return
I already checked for overnight coach, how does that work with sleeping? Sounds a lot trip without a hotel stay from West Yorkshire
That's great HNS_77, I'm still weighing it up. I really want to go but can I justify the cost my current situation.
Did you have to find out if your name in on your shares as I'm still waiting to hear from the registrar before getting a place?
Mountainous pre-owns the private jet not me Sammy - SP rise to Mooky bonus level dependent of course.
For the Special Bus Co timetable contact Mr Mark at Goodmans LLP in Bay Adelaide Centre Ontario :-) Also an expert in delusional analogies and shouting
@sammy18 have you tried Mr Mark's Special Bus Co for routes between Lincoln and Brum ?
@Mountainous To test your splitting ticket theory:
In the case of the 12:34 via Brum Int £121.45 it actually works out roughly the same
12:34 Wednesday
Shrewsbury to Brum Int £8.50
Brum Int to Euston £32.70
Euston to Wandsworth Town (Inc tube to Vauxhall) £7.00
15:32 Thursday
Wandsworth to Euston £7.00
Euston to Brum New Street £49.80
Brum New Street to Shrewsbury £16.80
=£121.80 + insurance
However as you thought I've found going the Crewe route later on after 15:00 and returning 12:40 is cheaper, £92 (roughly same with split tickets)
@Mountainous I asked Scott roughly how long the AGM is likely to last for those booking return trains home:
Dear Mr Xxxxxx,
The length of the AGM will really depend on the amount of Q&As we have. The formal business will only take 10 minutes or so as almost all shareholders will vote in advance by proxy. So it could be 10 minutes or it could 1 hour. There will also be 10 minutes at the end of the AGM where we will show some movie trailers but this is optional.
Kind regards,
Scott
@Mountainous I found Trainline will split the tickets as an option before the Payment screen.
12:34 Wednesday (changing at Brum Int) & returning from Wandsworth 15:32 Thursday is the cheapest option with the least number of changes at £121.45 plus an overnight stay at The Brewers Inn £102 is £223.45. Add on spending meals & drinks etc the whole AGM bash would be about £300 :-(
I'm still out of work after being made redundant last year so it's a lot for me at the moment :-(
Also worth considering that £300 would buy another 1000 CINE shares at this silly SP lol
For anyone considering attending the AGM next Thursday and needing to stay overnight before it these seem to be the nearest & cheapest places for Wednesday night:
Spread Eagle £119 8 mins walk
The Brewers Inn £102 10 mins walk
The Lodge Hotel £125 17 mins walk
Holiday Inn Express £126 18 mins walk
MK Hotel £102 28 mins walk
Victoria Villas £66 38 mins walk
I put in Shrewsbury to Wandsworth Town into the Trainline search Mountainous. Understand what you mean about booking separate tickets from the change stations but I think the problem/risk with that is that you must catch the connection train at the specific time booked so if there is a delay you are stuffed.
With booking a complete journey you are covered to jump on the next train if your incoming train comes in too late causing you to miss the connection, it's only the first train you have to be on at the scheduled time (according to my mate who works on the railways anyway). With 3 changes plus a tube it's a bit risky with 3 separate tickets!
As far as I know only Avanti West Coast run from Crewe or Wolverhampton to Euston. There is a direct train from Shrewsbury to Euston on Avanti but that's at 6:39am unfortunately peak time and when I'm asleep (lol), when Virgin operated the service it was mid afternoon which was much better for me :-)
Thanks Mountainous, yeah I've always found it's cheaper to stay in a hotel overnight in LDN than departures at peak times the same day, crazy isn't it !
Yeah I have a car but a Shrewsbury to LDN ticket usually includes a change at Crewe (or Wolverhampton or Birmingham) so it's easier just to get a train from Shrewsbury
Will go and play about with Trainline again after I've finished cooking, I couldn't see any advanced tickets left last time I looked. I'd probably get a hotel in Wandsworth I imagine it would be cheaper than Central LDN!
Thanks Mountainous, yeah I emailed the registrar earlier (actually while in Cineworld waiting for Dr Strange to start lol) waiting for reply.... I hope mine are in my name being with Halifax yes :-)
Did you get any indication of how long for AGM lasts for arranging a return journey?
No I'm not that far up I'm in Shrewsbury, we only have one direct train to Euston a day (or we did last time I went to LDN pre COVID!). I like the advanced tickets sometimes you can get on First Class with a meal included too for under £50 :-) It's too close now to get those though. Why Wandsworth Cine though it's a total pain in the a*** to get to from here :-(
@Mountainous my reply from Scott. Did you also have to check if your shares are in your name first? Mine are held in a Halifax Share Dealing ISA which if I remember you said yours are too?
Dear Mr Xxxxxx
If the shares are held in your own name you will be able to attend in person on the day. If your shares are held through a nominee/stockbroker, then you will need to obtain a letter of corporate representation from them in advance of the meeting.
I would suggest that you check with our Registrar at shareholder.services@linkgroup.co.uk who will be able to advise you.
Kind regards
Scott
Thanks Mountainous I'll drop him an email. I'm not 100% sure if I'm going yet, I have researched trains and staying over in hotel in Wandsworth the night before but I didn't go ahead with it as I wasn't sure on this point of getting in. I've missed all the advanced train tickets now though :-(
Good luck Mountainous :-). How do you get on the guest list?
Saw the first showing of Downton at 2pm HNS @ Shrewsbury Cineworld it was quite busy especially for a Friday afternoon :-)
