Even Biden is ignoring it.
'Biden Defends Alaska Oil Project'

Hi Surfit
Thanks for the explanation.
It was the "Solan was a master stroke." bit that I didn't understand ,,, I forgot that they got rid of it to PMO originally ... but they are now stuck with again, having taken over PMO ... or have they managed to dump it again ?
Camelot1 you say:-
"Would it surprise anyone if Origin and Falcon have a deal in hand with Inpex or more likely the Chinese"
I doubt it would be the Chinese, who have just signed a big LNG deal with Qatar ... and who are not too happy with the Australians at the moment anyway,

Does anyone have any concept as to how long it could take from sanction to first oil if (please God) it ever happens ?
Normally it would take 4 or 5 years, I guess, but being as how a lot of the work has already been done, does 3 years sound reasonable ?
The water cut is currently about 28% but that is not anywhere near to the world average of oil wells.
According to PetroWiki the average is about 70%. Maybe things aren't as bad as they seem !
"The present worldwide daily water production from oil wells averages roughly 3 BWPD per barrel of oil, although some wells produce significantly higher amounts. It costs money to lift water and then dispose of it. In a well producing oil with 80% water cut, the cost of handling water can double normal lifting costs. Yet, wells with water cuts in excess of 90% may still produce sufficient hydrocarbons to be economical (e.g., certain wells in the North Sea Shell Expro Brent fields and in the BP-Amoco Forties fields). "
The biggest problems with Sea Lion are the 3 Swords of Damocles ... Christina, Greta and Carrie.
Unfortunately, these 3 women have a lot of (far too much) influence.
1 Christina of Argentina will be a continuous pain in the neck.
2 Greta will get on her high horse if it goes ahead ... good to see that she won't be
coming to the big international Greenie meeting in Glasgow later this year.
3 Carrie (Mrs. Boris) will do her nut-nut if she finds out that he is helping to fund an oil field.

You obviously mean me when you wrote "One poster here asked a question that showed he hadn't understood the strategic significance of the FI in our new World."
That's just YOUR opinion.
I believe that the UK has absolutely no intention of increasing Military presence in the Falklands in the near future,
That's the last thing we need ... an excuse for the Argentinians to kick up an even bigger fuss.

That is an interesting article.
Another news item in the Penguin news reported on how the Argentinians tried to get FI badminton team banned from the Pan-Am games unless they changed their name to 'The Malvinas Badminton Team' .
Argentina is becoming even more childish and spiteful than the EU.
Could someone explain what is meant when it is said that the new company will become the largest 'Independent' Oil company in the UK.
Is BP not 'Independent' ?
