Probably not relevant, but Alliance News are reporting 18th March as dividend payment day, when that is actually the ex-div date, I believe. Could have caused some flutters, maybe.

Although the case proves, yet again, that Samsung can be beaten despite their size, it's important to note that Solas are nothing like Nanoco. Apparently some regard them as patent trolls, and it is somewhat amusing to hear them wax lyrical about the inventors of the patents, because they seem to merely own them through acquisition. Still, stealing is stealing, and Samsung got caught.

I topped up too early too - the directors hoovered up a load at about 110p, the clever "-stewards ", but even that was well above the bottom. Not complaining though, we're doing well on divis alone. Onwards and upwards.

Good results from M&G today and the dividend progressed happily. Total of Pru & M&G divis combined have declined substantially though. Not sure what Jackson dividend prospects are, but I wonder if Pru will drop theirs altogether after the upcoming demerger: it probably makes more sense to reinvest any profits to chase growth?

Not certain about this, goldenshares, but I think the divi is described as 2nd interim because it will be "recorded as an appropriation of retained earnings in the Company financial statements at the time that it is paid." rather than paid out of earnings for this year.

Quite technical, regulatory stuff, and I may be completely wrong, but pretty sure it's nothing to worry about.

It means M&G are rock solid on their progressive dividend policy goldenshares, increasing even in bad years! I'm shocked and delighted by that increase, really thought they would hold it after their baptism of fire, but they truly came out fighting!

So to be clear - this dividend is due to be paid on April 28th ( a whole month earlier than last year!), then we can expect increases next year (i.e. 6p+ in Sept, plus 12.23p+ in April '22) - a real prospect of continual outstanding payouts for the foreseeable future. There is also the strong likelihood of a rising SP as it struggles to catch up, imo. Happy days!

Congratulations on successful trading Mary. With a range of less than 10% you've done well taking into account dealing costs, but Sage's small spread probably helps. According to the charts your range didn't apply to most of last year, so have all your trades been recent ones?

Catchpole highlights identification of "correlative protection" as the ultimate aim of CHIMs. This could mean a specific level of antibodies which guarantees protection from an infectious disease , for example. For COVID-19, the correlative protection is unknown, finding out more should allow modification of vaccines and facilitate rapid approval.

There is no guarantee what the trials will produce of course, but the massive, unprecedented amount of forensic detail provided by a CHIM offers scope for considerable optimism, and any success would be a huge boost for virology, and for ORPH's business in particular, and not just in COVID-19.

Good luck to the volunteers and everyone involved in the trials: frontline warriors.

Thanks T3. I think the US FDA requires clinical trials to be listed and available to the public, maybe that's why this information is (apparently) only available on a US website? You could argue this is an example of US govt power extending into other nations territory via trading rules, but if it helps us know what gwan, do we care?

Looks like the study actually started 10 November last year, but only submitted to US govt. system in Feb and posted today. Estimated to complete recruitment and data gathering about recruits by April when the pokey stuff starts, and estimated to finish in September.

M&Gs solvency ratio was a slight cause for concern a year ago as it declined fairly rapidly from 176% at launch in October to 166% by last March, they even issued a warning about the deterioration in their capital position. However, it stabilised around 164% and was still at that level in August. That's a comfortable level, apparently, and judging by AVIVA and the general upswing, it may have improved since then. Here we go with the accusations. If valid points are being made, that's a great contribution to the board, and questioning "motivation" is a pathetic attitude. Defensiveness is unconvincing evasion, just address the points being made. I pointed out CF's tendency to overpromise, and forget earlier predictions, ages ago, it's obvious and undeniable, but not necessarily a bad thing - his positivity has created enormous success here, it opens doors, and I would argue it IS all about him, because for one thing he's sacked most of the management. That might be a reason institutions are wary of the company, because he isn't playing their game of providing cushy directorships or high paid executive positions. Don't really understand the complaints about the SP though, it's doing fine as far as I'm concerned.

Sell off indicates many investors see the SP as toppy. Perhaps naively, I still think it has legs and maybe only half way through a marathon.

Berenberg raised their target to £59.45 today based on prospects, and I'm hoping to see that surpassed by year end. They see the drop off in COVID-related sales next year being more than offset by a rebound in demand from industrial clients and continued momentum in semiconductors. Long term, they believe earnings can double in five years through a combination of overall market growth and gains in market share. That's a big ask, but it's a logical extrapolation from recent results.

You certainly have a point Basscadet, although the media have noticed those scandals far more than Samsung's. Bribery is only one of Samsung's crimes, of course, and those other companies don't seem to have institutionalised IP theft.
