yes that's right Crusty, of course it won't, that's why CH-1 is where it is. tell me why NT-2 was in the wrong place, it was designed to test the gas play up-dip from the NT-1 well, which turned out to be fairly successful I would had thought.

yes Crusty, that s what I said and agree with you, it was not in the right location to test the Jurassic play unlike CH-1 is.
I'm not say they will or won't recomplete NT-2 what i'm saying, it is, or has been considered, and I have not seen yet officially, that the Ntorya development will not include the NT-2 work-over.

Robbie and dunder, would a side-track well off the original well not be considerably cheaper than sinking a totally new well with new drilling pad etc ?

they've known for some time that the license has been (all but in the bag), as shown by their growing confidence stated in RNS'S over resent months, so i'm pretty sure that the plans for CH-1 rig selection/availability are in-step with the farm-out completion.

of course the COS for the deeper (exploration) Jurassic target is no where as high as the Ntorya Craterous appraisal, but it no (Wild Cat) either. A lot of info from the Likonde well plus the 2D has gone into defining Jurassic prospect, and its a monster. have a look at figures 6-1 and 6-2

6.1 Chikumbi Prospect The planned Chikumbi-1 (CH-1) well will be drilled within the Mtwara Licence area to a planned total depth of 3,485m TVD to test the Late Jurassic stratigraphically trapped Chikumbi prospect whilst also appraising an extension to the Cretaceous Ntorya discovery.
The primary target for the CH-1 well is Late Jurassic sandstones that lie under the Base Cretaceous Unconformity, directly beneath the Ntorya discovery. The seismic shows stacked lobes with elevated amplitudes and overall thickening of the Tithonian interval (Figure 6-1). Seismic line 121 is aligned along the length of the prospect and shows lateral downlap and seismic amplitude changes that delineate the length of the prospect as ~10 km"

this could be helpful, though the NT-2 well shown here is what became CH-1 when a new location for the NT-1 500mt step-out well then became the new NT-2 well.

you can just make out the Likonde prospect page 8 the southern sand channel darker yellow coming down to the CH-1 WELL

yes it the Likonde well that drilled into the Jurassic and the gas kick they got nearly put the rig into orbit, im no0t sure but i think that RNS 2014 was before they had actual located the CH-1 site

"Ruvuma OPERATIONAL UPDATE Aminex today announces that interpretation of the newly acquired seismic data has extended the potential of the Ntorya appraisal area, and management has further increased its resource estimate to 2.3 TCF (Pmean GIIP) by combining the Ntorya discovery with the adjacent Likonde prospect in its Ruvuma PSC in south-eastern Tanzania. The new interpretation has shown that an additional target exists for an appraisal well that would intersect the Ntorya gas and condensate sands encountered in Ntorya-1 and an extension of the Lower Tertiary sands that were found to have oil and gas shows in the earlier Likonde-1 well to the north. This additional target has further increased the recently announced resource potential from 1.9 to 2.3 Tcf (Pmean GIIP). The Likonde-1 well penetrated 97 metres of net sand with an average porosity of 17% within a 316 metre gross Lower Tertiary sand sequence with hydrocarbon shows and a deeper Jurassic zone, containing 250 metres of stacked sandstones with extensive oil and gas shows. The deeper sandstones were not logged at the time, as the well was prematurely terminated in the deepest objective at 3,647 metres due to the influx of high pressure gas. The new seismic interpretation, using the recently acquired higher quality 2D seismic data, shows that the Likonde prospect comprises two distinct channel sands of which the southern channel extends over the mapped Ntorya Cretaceous gas sand. Ntorya-1, drilled in 2012, did not encounter this Likonde Tertiary sand channel, which lies just north of the well, but discovered a deeper Cretaceous gas sand that tested 20MMcfd with 139 barrels of associated condensate."

Crusty, if they find oil down there, the share price will go pop, this is no deep water well costing hundreds of millions, but a cheap on-shore well making it competitive, also with a posable oil export port after the Uganda oil pipe-line is laid, yes all looking good for that corner of the world.

well, we have two targets the Ntorya Cretaceous up-dip and deeper Jurassic Likonde up-dip, which in actual fact was what Tullow was looking for when they drilled NT-1. but alas they didn't find it at NT-1 at their prognosed depth. the rest is history, and here we are. so two exciting targets in one well to look forward too
