The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
castle2012, glad that you are above board. Have you got any idea why the @emusk Twitter account has been suspended? Or indeed why the tweet posted by stilltrying got deleted? Happy for you to DM me on Twitter @blabhein. You should also follow @jjmdson. Genuine communication of views can only be good. I just feel there is something going on I don't understand.
Castle 2012, the @emusk account is suspended. Also the tweet posted by stilltrying has been deleted. Are you guys creating rogue accounts or what? I would like to see activity on Twitter ... I see JJ has been posting... but not much action so far that I can see.
More in hope than expectation I posted on WallStreetBets/Reddit :
Do you guys look at over-shorted FTSE stocks?
I have an interest of course as I am £19,000 down on Metro Bank (MTRO):
- Drop from £40 to £2
- Market Cap £250m only 16% of NAV
- Director buy of £890k in Nov
- Large holding by Columbian banking billionaire
- Successful rights issue at £5
- By FTSE rules >30% stakeholder can offer to buy at £2 b4 24th Feb
- Goldman Sachs buying (I presume for Columbian and facilitating shorting to put SP ceiling <£2)
- Crispin Odey, the main shorter is charged with "Indecent Assault"
- Has banking license but asset but not valued (eg JPM will need one soon)
All just my understanding so please DYOR. To me it's a no-brainer. The bastard will probably still pocket millions but I want to do what I can to limit the theft. Maybe even bring the manipulation to light.
I share your hope. Think we have till 24th Feb. At least my minimal understanding is that is the date any holder of 30% can offer the rest £2 per share (highest SP in a year) for the rest. Probably getting total control at a fraction of value.
If only this could happen here!

Just before the last big drop (Sept?) I couldn't get CFD orders filled. I naively though that meant other buyers.
Matlot said it was actually the reverse. Too many shares in the hands of the manipulators so the SP would fall. He was spot on.
End of last week, again I couldn't get buy orders filled so this drop is no surprise. I wouldn't want to see 60p again but, even if, I will ride it out.
Yes, you would expect re-allowing dividend would be a boost.
There are suggestions of a house price drop of about 5%. I just don't get why that should bother Lloyds so long as folk can still pay their mortgage. (a lot cheaper than rent!)

Theosus, It's great to find you topping up on Lloyds.
I've been in and out and in and out since they went above 32p on "Vaccine Monday". (half what gov't paid in the last crisis). So volatile but still so safe. Like milking a cow.
Then again, that's what I thought in 2009!
I got 20.8.
Not often I research a recommendation that actually makes profit. Not that I know much but it's expertise not just in law but in trade, China etc just seemed a no-brainer beneficiary for what is to come.
BS, I get you. You just meant that the price move up on the added short declared on 23/3, could have been at as low as 78 so running at a 30% loss at yesterdays dizzy heights of 101. Just possible. Although it could have been from friday's high of 95 so flat-ish today. I hope like you the shorts do start closing so was maybe overly keen to be convinced by your numbers. Right in a sense but a bit, like me, a bit too optimistic. No criticism, I love your posts as they are very informative and usually tell me what I want to hear.
BS, sorry to persist but the FCA spreadsheet today still has Voleon at 2.21% from 23 Mar. You said "They have now started closing. They are currently c. 30% down on that added short". I just don't see this info on the spreadsheet: Voleon Capital Management LP METRO BANK PLC GB00BZ6STL67 2.21 23/03/2020
Would just like to know where you got the 30% down from.
BS, you always seem to have the change in short positions before they appear on the only tracker site I know (https://shorttracker.co.uk/company/GB00BZ6STL67/). Where do you get your info?
Came up on my phone on the way back from the Independence March. Must be true.

Am I the only one who missed this? Seems the kind of news we have been waiting for.
