Perhaps Iran has intercepted our posts. I won't be opening the door this eve, just in case. Mind I did like their 'Eat me dates' so that my save my head if I can find the empty carton and the little plastic prong as proof.

T, answer is people. We all have vastly differing views, even if sharing the same jobs, living in the same areas, even people in the same family, so given that we almost all have eyes, ears, and some sort of brain capacity, we ought to think more alike, but we don't so chaos is it seems here forever.

It is only when others wishes and dictates are forced verbally then physically onto others with polar views that everything erupts.

So instead of thinking that people are mental, they may not be, just may be at the very opposite end our own thinking.

We have had the Tories and Labour parties run this country for years, poles apart, neither mental, but think vastly differently, as do their loyal followers.

Same with different religions billions of people choosing very different beliefs, are they all wrong as many feel, is only one lot right?

But our own natural thinking biases us into believing all too often what we want to trust, read, and search out in the vast array of conflicting knowledge and facts 'out there'. Hence stats are used, quotes are used, but still will never all think the same, hence chaos. Lunch now

Sadly though for the UK many have found an easy option to ensure that a better life where free homes, free health care, free education, more money for every child born, and even to have intercourse with many beautiful women, sometimes whether they are willing or not, awaits just by climbing in an Avon dingy, not needing to die to find Eutopia.

The UK heaven on Earth to those arriving, so expect many more to add to the protesting, then scuffling, then eventually fighting mix already here. With the poor old British bobby and us taxpayers funding the additional disharmony for generations and likely eternity.

Lloyds being so UK based will also suffer an eternal drag in a less stable country. We are not immune.

Easy to dream of Peace as we listen to 'Imagine' etc, but the world is chaotic and dreamers wishes are sadly just that.

We still have the Car DCA saga to drag us down yet, coming this month.

As the rich to poor gap will increase I think Lloyds are in the bidding for some wealth management company so maybe a good move, for once.

It isn't all about now, but the future years. The UK declared war on Germany and so many lives here were lost, but few would NOW say it was not the right thing to do.

Only horrible people want to see anyone who is not a threat to them killed, but most people care more about their parents, children, partners, friends, neighbours, their community, their town, district and country, then their continent in roughly that order.

It is natural and normal. Clearly within those groups there will be lovely and nasty people we either like more or hate more, but the generalisation is such.

So, as with this ME war, it is to our advantage that the US has a best a victory as can be expected rather than Iran, NOT because most of care deeply for the people there, but because should Nuclear weapons be developed and used against allies it will then make the UK even more unsafe that we are now.

So selfishness is a huge part of survival of any species, and putting yourself and loved ones first is not mad, but normal.

Trying to be nice to everyone and wrongly assuming such will be reciprocated by those being treated with compassion may sometimes work on individual cases, but when dealing with a vastly different mindset, kindness is seen as weakness to be taken, but used to the max.

In nature hardness creates survivors and we are a part of nature and to think a better intelligence should have by now removed those natural traits of greed, and wanting to impose your views on others is foolish. One to one possible, but doesn't work en masse on continental scale.

Nice teachers had more disruptive pupils, hard teachers are often though of AFTER as the best ones, where we learned the most.

Gray, thanks for comments. I have been reinvesting divs for the last few years into cash isa's, and yearly bonds. Sadly greed makes it hard to invest in such when you see shares rise in a day by more than you get in a year in an isa. But of course, shares can go down as we all know. As Lti has said, cash is eroded by inflation but so is the buy in so called break even, especially if holding for two decades ish. But the div now seems to be higher than 'official' inflation atm anyway. So yes not reaching for the knife drawer yet.

All stocks in an isa thanks, just hard to see what to me is huge profits vanish, just hope it is shortish term paper loss.

Gray around 60p ish. Held them for twenty years ish. Ended up with too many due to earlier rights issues x two, and used to use divs for buybacks.

Gray, thanks for words of hope. No fortunately not needing to sell any stock, that is my problem, just used such as an income via divs. But gut wrenching to know I could have sold up near the top, and had either 60k to spend, or the same to reinvest in even more shares and of course then even more div's.

Likely losing even more total on other shares held, daren't look yet!

Have plenty of div money to reinvest, but when so much cash wiped away, hard to bring yourself to buy more, as the def of an idiot is doing the same thing twice and expecting a different result.

T, fully see POTUS has issues, but I assume anyone wealthy, doing such a job must be a little odd, as every day endless different problems to try to address, when they could likely get a better paid job elsewhere, and in his case, as I have said, he is wealthy enough to fund himself and loved ones for generations to come, so it must be that he feels he is doing such for the long term good of the nation, even if he is wrong, which I am not convinced that he is.

STP, very lucky to be in that position in such times. Awful thing is losses happen over days, yet years are needed to recoup those losses and of course some never do return. Was expecting a crash but only recently assumed a war would be the catalyst, and then never acted on my assumptions. In such scenarios, first loss is often best loss, and should have sold day one.

As interest rates remain higher for longer can't think a rising yield on Lloyds will temp people back in, unless it is well over the yield they can get in far far safer assets

T, do you think that they both Putin and President Trump are truly insane? I mean has anyone actually declared them to be, not wise with Putin I know. Or is it just a comfortable way of keeping joe public appeased by trying to pretend via the media, that who they voted for, or in Putin's case, got as a leader is mentally ill, rather than a hard man.

I mean we see it so often in the press, that when a machete killer, a van driver killing a crowd, or gunman, or knife wielding foreigner kills or maims nowadays, they are classed as 'mental' not extreme in their views. I guess so it causes less fear to the naive public that being mental is rare compared so more can sleep a little easier at night.

But often you love to quote facts, so has it been proven that the two leaders are indeed crazy, for in POTUS case surely he would be removed from his duties? Or is this your assumption as he sees the problem with culture change in the West so therefore he must be mental?

I am down thrupence per share, and am panicking. Sadly plenty more loses on many others too. Yet BP struggles to hit a miserable fiver which it was years ago. So only cold comfort there and not a patch on what I am down. Even the so called safe holding in gold isn't doing what war normally makes it do.

Most strange that many leaders, from so called democratic countries as well as dictatorship lands are often labelled as mad.

Seems to me that anyone who wishes to try to sort out the issues in the land they have been elected or in dictatorships to do are then classed as evil or mad, usually both.

We saw it with Hitler, with Trump, with Putin, yet all three were trying to do something about the huge problems facing their countries which is what people expect them to do.

Yet because it tramples other nations underfoot to achieve such goals, they are seen as mad. Callous perhaps, but not mad. Do you think that any nation given the chance, would not put its own people first. Just most are able to do so, not that they wouldn't.

As we sadly see, being nice, giving the benefit of doubt only works when the majority of people share these traits. World leaders could only ever be nice if the whole planets leaders were the same, never are nor never will be.

Sad, but true.

And being nice, can be bad if you let your countries and it's peoples guard down, or think just talking will cure all, all of the time.

We will have even less markets to access when the Great President has more time on his hands to consider his loyal allies responses to this war.

Such a shame Reform were not in power at the same time as President Trump.

Sir Kier knowing his voter base is less than pleased dare not upset the imported votes and has sacrificed doing by doing the legal thing our only chance of not cowing to the EU, but that is what Sir K wanted, closer ties and snouts firmly back in the EU lucrative trough.

Friday sell off selling in earnest

Fleccy, re photo of panels. I saw somewhere that someone had made a fixing which fixed panels to a fence, giving the required angle. I expect not so efficient as more horizontal config, but takes up less valuable usable space, and IF you can afford enough on a long sunny fence, maybe will get the same or more kwh out of such. Think it was German idea.

As for BP I have held here for two decades, seen it higher and lower, but it is dismal and dividend not great. Used to buy back more with div, so ended up with twice as many shares, now hold around 20k, but just keep the cash now as growth here is never high enough and certainly not stable enough to warrant it yet. Hope such will change, but in a word forced into renewables a bit like buying into a blacksmith chain when cars hit the road in early days.

On the contrary, greed was mentioned insomuch as I mentioned people choosing to come to other lands who had more to give them a better life, so they are greedy in expecting others who have had years of ancestors toil, work long hours, be abused by employers and have had many die in warfare to create a country for themselves and their children's children to hopefully have a better life, NOT for some greedy person to come and leap on the band wagon and thus lessen the hard won gains for the indigenous. I therefore did point out that greed and unfairness, but of course such in blinkered eyes, even IF illegal is justified or ignored .

Of course we all understandably wish to have the best life we can obtain, but should that mean illegally imposing yourself to the detriment of others lifestyles then certainly those people will too rightfully oppose such, unless you are biased or stupid, or both.

Plenty of charities out there to help less fortunate people, but now since mobile info, most bypass such and thus then fully informed can come directly to the source of aid and eventually gain a life which the indigenous past generations had suffered to bequeath to their future loved ones.

An electronic payment of rent, child benefit and a generous amount to enjoy life here on is naturally preferred to awaiting aid, but painfully costly when a truly never ending amount is required, so instead of levelling up eventually if not now, the effect is levelling down standards of living for the hosts and future arrivals

What is too like whether you are indigenous or an illegally arrived yesterday person to then have a never ending number of people wanting a share of what you now have?

When considering all the infighting and issues , not only in the M.E, with all the religious hatred, old scores and racial, and caste issues such as even India Ireland etc has that when humans do start colonies in space, it would be very wise to choose the emigrants from one race and with no religion to carry any of these problems the rest of the universe.

That said, IF people had just traded with one another and ignored the rights and wrongs of what another nation chooses to do with its own people, or had others countries people forced upon a nation just because they have a trade deal with other countries, we might well be all better off here too regarding disharmony. For few object to any race living in their own lands.

Free movement of people has meant that naturally people go to where they have the best life possible, but it is often to the cost of the host nation who equally as naturally don't want their cushy lifestyle to deteriorate should such cause that for them or their children's futures.

I am sure that if free movement had never been part of the EU agreement, then we would still be 'in', for better or worse, imo, the latter.

The world needs to rely more on hi tech, which AI will hopefully bring, and that does not care about past wrongs being used as an excuse to behave vile for eternity or have old scores to settle . We owe no one nothing, for if you can't defend your country then expect problems, hence why we are now spending far more on defence.

More hi tech and less costly, needy, oft troublesome (no offence meant T) and aging people which will only just increase, for the next generation, the issues of cost of care, treating, educating and controlling far more people as they too will age. And by the time the first couple have passed they will have created a huge amount for the country to then cope with housing and the above so the whole cycle increases in a bigger than otherwise circle.

Less people and more investment in hi tech would be the preferred way to go imo, as we can't afford both.

Look at Lloyds or any business, sack people and utilise hi tech, because it makes sense. Yet no Governments do so, yet all businesses which will survive do.

So must be something in it, with exceptions as with all things.
