... is Iran so hell bent on developing nuclear fuel for peaceful purposes as they like to pretend they are, when they are floating on oil, have a relatively small population, so I fear they are trying to create a WMD, perhaps wisely to counteract Israel's devices, but still think that with such a religious mentality that they, more than even Russia are far more likely to use such if push comes to shove.

Only thing I don't understand is why Russia has not supplied them with such for a price, rather than them having to create their own.

Maybe like the West Russia is not such a believer in a wonderful 'after life' and prefers to hedge it bets by its leaders enjoying life to the max NOW, and given just token gesture religious credence to 'once they die' hoped for joy. Perhaps even Putin understands that to give Iran with a totally different mindset such weapons would endanger them more than allowing just conventional weapons.

I would not be surprised, but sad to hear If President Trump was killed by his own people, but using some fanatic to break this stalemate if it goes on too long.

I think his heart is in the right place but his mindset sees such to simplistic and never considers others, the enemy or his once allies actions and views.

Still share price is nice to see where it is, but only wish the rise here covered a tenth of what I am losing on other holdings.

Sad thing is, if this ends, BP will drop like a stone, but the other holdings will take months or years to ever reach anywhere near where they once were.

As I often say, being 'nice' is very costly, and more of a luxury in hard pressed times, but people wrongly assume you are horrible if you see the practicality of being harder at times. I never dissed T for smacking, and imo, it is a shame we couldn't do the same to the parents who, in most cases are the ones to blame for the fruit often doesn't roll far from the tree, unless like me you have a very steep garden where apples trees are, but all children will become parents so they need to know right from wrong or the next gen suffer.

So like President Trump feels, to kill thousands now on others soil, may prevent millions killed on US soil in the future should a nuclear device be activated by those madder than the one everyone thinks is the maddest. He did say he was putting America first, not others.

He has imposed sanctions to try to bring back work to his own country by making imports more expensive. He has now increased the income from American oil and gas exports and whilst the Americans will pay more at the pumps, the extra revenue generated will more than cover their fuel increased prices.

The war has made the US dollar a safe haven for capital as equites, and gold along with other PM's fall in value, so wealth has poured into the US due to this skirmish.

The US has so much oil and food and most everything it needs along with a mighty powerful military, no small wonder people know it is the safest place to be in war time as is its currency.

So whilst the rest of the world may well end up poorer, the US will gain wealth, and isn't 'that' what the POTUS promised?

He never said how it would achieve it, and even if by giving misleading indicators that the media run with which effects the stock market, that volatility will enrichen those in the know adding to the wealth of the nation.

Eventually President Trump will tire of the war, and will have a choice of luxury homes in which to live, in safety.

Will any Iranian leader? I doubt it. Yet people will say Trump lost, but has he, for he has ruined at least for years the nuclear facilities and will be back again to bomb such IF he thinks they are again making 'the' bomb.

So job done, no shame needed, and just for his to leave a message to the Iranians saying 'We will be back anytime we see fit'.

Thanks for your comment on PM's. I do hold a small percentage of gold, bought a while ago, when you could buy a Britannia 1 oz gold coin for £600 ish.

So have seen their value rise dramatically and now, likely see them lose value as people in the know likely have already taken their positions and bought up tons of gold, over the last year, hence the 'rise' in PM's at the same time as equities increased, explaining this rare occurrence.

Now I hear Turkey are dumping gold on the market, unsure if true of course. But PM's are easily manipulated as likely more 'paper' PM's than what exists in the metal world.

So with equities down, gold down, the US dollar and oil, both of which rise, President Trump is doing what he said, putting America not the coat tail hangers on, first.

The increase in fuel will for the USA be offset by their oil, gas exports and the US dollar rising. WE will suffer but not them.

And imo, that is to give more aid to the nere do wells in society to ensure they have enough benefits left for the essentials of nail bars, drugs, and take away food, as their heating allowance is increased accordingly. The wealthy of course save a fortune on heating by having solar, heatpumps, log burners, and the very best thermal insulation, so it is the millions in between these two groups who will be paying more for their fuel and funding through stealth taxes those at the bottom. So the middle group watch their living standards drop, whilst the underclass are, like the rich, always protected.

At least far fewer will be laughing at the lower end of Lloyds end of year Merkat competition predicts this December!

All buying in and holding for the Div of a miserable three pence ish, yet the share price falls from highs taking , SO FAR, 8, yes EIGHT years of dividend of 3p with it in a month or so.

And it's not over by a long way imo.

The drop will be fast but not so the recovery, and the recovery will be partly due to high inflation, which will make the share price worth far far less than what it's price WOULD have bought you.

The UK has lost any hope of President Trump giving us any deals, or tariffs in the future which are favourable, the EU hate us, and will do us no favours, and the only people who seemingly love us, do so to better an even worse lifestyle if they had not arrived here, but cost us dearly being poorer than our poor.

What a great leadership we have and have had.

With the UK and Lloyds being a symbiotic partnership, all hope is lost for both imo.

Whilst many would love to see President Trump fail, and loose face, he will ensure that Iran is crippled for decades if pushed.

The Iranians know he is not predictable and thus also being of the same strength of not wishing to lose face would have played any soft weak Western leader, and they know that President Trump may well do what he says, or may not, but are they willing to see their country destroyed as well as lose face, whereas President Trumps county will be fully intact even if he loses face.

American oil and the dollar are rising on the back of the war, so even if oil rises in price in the states, he could just subsidise the difference for the American people on the extra dollars the US take on their oil exports and dollar growing wealth to appease the public there.

Already Iran is willing to talk about opening up the strait SINCE the POTUS threat. So perhaps the thought of being bombed back to the stone age is sinking in a little.

Maybe Trump should take out a few hydro dams to prevent any dithering to show what would come next IF they don't play ball.

Sure Iran will blow up a few innocents around the globe, but we have seen terrorists even when the West bends over backwards for them killing the innocent so that will happen even if they gave in fully now.

IF this threat with, imo, a little taster of some power stations not being used to energise oil installations are taken out, it may just may the Iranians think hard for their futures.

They can't 'hate' the US anymore so what's to lose now for the US to take drastic action.

War is never easy, and doing nothing in peace time seems the best choice, but some look forward a little more and thousands dead now could save millions dead later.

President Trump promised to make America great again, not those hanging on to its coat tails.

The more chaos, the stronger the US dollar becomes, as, for good reason, the USA is seen as the safest place to be, showing that even though fools think Trump is just 'mad' he is doing what he said for his electorate. Of course it will get worse, before it gets better. But as America has so much oil, it gains as prices rise, as it is the food basket of much of the world, it won't starve, as it has the best military in the world, it won't be invaded, as the population have the most firearms they could form a massive resistance if needed, and it is not just coincidence that the largest companies in the world are based there.

So rather than sit back and watch his country gently slide off the top spot and into the mire of debt, whilst all his green eyed allies populations mock their debt, the PM, the 'mad' Americans, he is trying to make America, not the spongers using the US, great again.

It may well fail, and no doubt an easy task for the next POTUS to find plenty of fault with Trumps means and methods, as they too sit back and do what other Presidents have done, and take the money whilst the malaise to the worlds top country slides to the delight of the jealous.

Any country where people risk their lives to enter, can't be all bad, but those lands where people do the same to leave surely must be.

As gold and other PM's fall many expect the opposite when the threat of war looms ever closer. But as the US dollar rises, as do bond yields, then zero income PM's take a dive.

So whilst Americas stock market is wavering, the USD and the fact that they float on oil, are the food basket for the world, and the most protected nation with huge land mass of useful land, I guess President Trump isn't overly as concerned as European leaders over a long dragged out skirmish.

T, I remember my late mother saying that she lost her not very strong faith in God whilst seeing a little boy carrying on his back another small child, can't recall if it was his sister or brother, after they had both been badly burnt with a Napalm attack in the Vietnam war with the U.S., as the child being carried died.

She always said that no God should have ever let that happen, and I am sure that the world over such awful tales could be recounted time and time again, and imo, will be that way forever.

But that said, as many here rightly question our leaders, and our faith, those places like Iran, whereby many of the people love their leaders and have unbending faith, it is very hard to bomb those thoughts away.

I truly wonder if President Trump, may have to resort to the utter shock of a nuclear strike on Iran, as the US did to Japan, knowing that they too would never have surrendered under conventional means.

I hope not, for tbh I care more for the animals, and wildlife and nature than people, and to destroy so many true innocent lives, who don't hide behind or live by a religion, as it must be said many people also do religious or not, who also just want to live in peace, is sad, but imo is what has, and will always happen.

It is imo in our interests that President Trump now finishes what he started but even if he does, there is no joy in winning any war, but better than losing one, just.

Perhaps, as with the last WW, when Japan was rightly deemed to be unlikely to surrender easily with their strong beliefs in their leader, perhaps a nuclear war head or so to destroy vast areas of Iran would be the only way to shock these people into giving in.

President Trump is likely the only Western leader with the bottle to do such, and it might be the finisher of this war, or the real start of WW3, but something drastic will be needed to end this now.

None of the above is anything directly linked to the war, yet we have that as well to factor in.

So I would not be surprised to see these fall far far further after ex div day.
