The production tests were of insufficient duration to dewater the coals, precluding attainment of peak gas rates and subsequent decline. Phase 1 is to demonstrate commerciality of these wells plus an additional 2 and Includes extended production testing. The tests from the 5 wells are only from a short term flow test but are encouraging.

It’s flow rates that will put money in the bank and Dempsey is 30m from metre station. Dempsey has access to many reservoirs.

Eme / sgc have said they will go into production. If that happens I don't think they will test the zones above at this point. However the top 4 zones are in commercial production all over the basin so they already have a lot of data on these sands so they will already have a good idea how they will flow. The zones that won't be tested, they will look at the data they have collected from them already and compare it to data from other zones to asses there further potential. All this information is being used to form a field development plan. That's how I see it, I may be wrong and I am no expert. The other option is if they choose to flow zones together? I don't know how feasible this is, nor has this ever been mentioned by sgc.

If fracking zone 2 doesn’t prove a commercial flow then they will move up to the next zone and flow test that.

Hi gripa I think the plan is to test zones from the bottom up, once they achieve a commercial flow rate they will put it into production. If the second zone (this one) proves commercial they won’t test any further but they have e logs, mud logs, data from the zones below including flow data prior to And post fracking and seismic. All of this will prove useful in assessing the potential of any untested zones. Even with zones that at the moment are uncommercial, they may remodel the data with a view to using long horizontal wells to make it commercial? I don’t know if the geology, conditions or permits would allow this but the point I’m trying to make is they have options. The states is the right place for this.... The less they have to do to get a commercial flow the better. This well could just be the start....

I think deep perforations were conducted in Dempsey to over come skin. I’m expecting tulainyo to have tight sand too, maybe that’s one of the reasons they haven’t drilled as deep this time? It’s going to be interesting how the flow test performs on that well and if they choose to fracture stimulate it too. It’s promising a number of companies see the deeper sands in the Sacramento basin of having lots of potential including CRC. The gas is pipeline quality and under high pressure, all bodes well imho.

Asset Overview Curzon Energy is 100% owner and operator of approximately 47,000 acres of known and tested Coalbed Methane (CBM) Gas accumulations in the Coos Bay area of Oregon. Eocene aged Coal Bed Methane Gas in Coos Bay Oregon at a depth from 4000 ft to the surface CBM is created during the formation of coal. Methane is trapped by water within a coal seam. Relatively low cost wells are drilled into the coal seam and when the water is pumped out the coal starts releasing methane gas. Previous operator has spent C. $37m to date and has drilled 5 wells and laid 4 miles of pipeline running from these 5 wells. This existing pipeline infrastructure is ready to be connected and within 15 metres of the regional pipeline. The regional Coos Bay pipeline has a capacity of 3.9 BCF/day. The 5 wells tested gas up to 100 Mscf/day each in an area selected for initial development due to proximity to a regional gas pipeline. Nearby wells test up to 500 Mscf/day. The Coos Bay asset contains 86 to 419 BCF of contingent resources and up to 1,000 BCF of CBM gas in-place, and an average gas content of 148 scf/ton. Total net thickness up to 70+ ft from over 10 coal seems, and average permeability of 6 md. First Gas by end of Q2 2018. CBM wells are different from conventional gas wells as they tend to be cheaper to drill as are mainly a lot shallower. CBM wells also produce gas for a lot longer than conventional gas wells.

once we get the full analysis from the 3D siesmic of the china prospects i'm expecting them to farm in a partner for a large fee for a free carry on the drilling campain. Depending on the sucess of Dempsey & Alvares, I wonder if they will continue with the AMI or take a larger share in the mako license. Mako has been successful indeed, plus other prospects identified too. EME have options.......Thoughts anyone?

Yes rathole you have a valid point. It looks like a number of thin sands form this zone. Also validates the need to fracture this zone, allowing the sands above and below to communicate with the well bore perforations. The theory is to create fractures to allow communication with sands that are less tight and accommodate gas filled natural fractures. Creating verticals fractures in the formation is key to connecting the thin sands.

Hopefully the rig is going to another jv well? Perhaps Alveras? Dempsey will go into production, as GJ has said “we have only just begun”! According to sacgasco rns there’s potential for future production within the layer that straddles the 2 tested zones. Stimulation will be used to connect to this zone also. I wonder if it’s a shale layer?

Pancontental suggest recent reservoir engineering review of the well results from Alvares indicates that natural flow of between 4.0 and 10.0MMcfd could be achievable from these reservoirs if drilled and completed optimally, using modern technology. Completion includes stimulation.
