Exclusivity could mean several different things: It could mean that our bigboy is not a super major, some one like Hess or BHP, hunting in shell's back yard, so to speak. It could also be a super other than shell, for the same reason, or it just might be shell. Shell tend to be good payers so from our point of view they would be ideal. I hope that exclusivity does not mean that the deal on the table, is one that the pothead thinks is too low! Let McQ do their stuff, just get us the deal!

Of course it is pure speculation on my part, yet if the bod of BHP were looking to expand there o&g division, what better way than a 1 to 3 billion barrel field? Could lead to divestment of o&g unit at later stage, or smooth out peaks and troughs of income derived from mining, with a possible decline in coal sales dependent on China in the future! The article in question, I found in news items for shell on yahoo finance. It dealt with the next big thing in oil eg deep sea drilling, and how deep sea is becoming more economic in relation to fracking.

not every commercial decision will be taken to the stockholders, no director could or would operate that way. The bod, any bod will take offers that are material to profit to stockholders, if they are not good enough they will be put to rest, that is just the way directors work.

I am the first to admit that everyone, including me, makes mistakes, so no problem. glad to be of service. of course not every offer or comercial decision will be put to the stock holders, so such things happen.
