Nightpusher,I was on an onshore installation.We were started as multi skill technicians.My knowledge of flameproof equipment was my ticket in.Apart from my trade I had to run the plant,do my own lab samples, fitter. Fireman control room operator and all things needed. Walked with a brush up my a**e to sweep the place as I went along.As the years went by they went back to committed fitters/sparkies/instrument techs.
