Well my Wangernumb prediction was 99.999% accurate, absolutley spot on. I may now return to day trading this beast now that my system is proven and running.

Everything I have was up today, and IAG so I am a little perplexed by the derampers with their 176s and the like.I maybe close to being able to release one or two others and average down on this before the next recovery stint and start playing this again. The swings back and forth are very tempting.

Torrow TMF will run a story "why I won't be buying IAG". Not a single reference to the Indian red listing??

The IAG uprate was posted earlier. Looks like Barclays is looking to raise income for it's pension fund management from travel shares. Whilst it can be read as a positive outlook, it also means in a divvy devoid market that profits will be taken! There has been a little bit of that going on from the iis but bigger events in the unpredictable swings and off-policy movements in government have had a bigger impact. There will, however, be a cashing in date in the diaries of these iis. Name of the game is to bail just before they do. When that is when things are so unreadable is a difficult one to guess at the moment - and no inverted 4 cornered triangle on a chart is going to predict it either!!!

New tumble dryer is a magic sensor driven jobbie. I can control it by my smart phone whilst sitting in a wicker chair gazing out over the fields. Why I would want to do that I do not know. Typically I will turn a device on after I have loaded it. Why I would want to wait until I am sat down at the other end of my castle before turning it on I haven't figured out out. Next they'll be selling me artificial bird song for the garden!

Don't fret too much over the drops. The pattern is becoming clear, any advance on expectation by the market is stamped on to hold back the free return to travel until.... until what conditions? If variants are the real reason then there will simply be no return to free travel. It's like saying no more free travel in case another Covid pops up somewhere. 'They' are going to have to come clean at some point. That goodwill playing along with the restriction is not going to last forever and the populous does not respond to nudge theory through the magic box of illuminated sprites in the corner of the room any more - if we ever did. I suspect the market reaction is do with India being put on the red list. It also indicates that things can still turn back. The foot dragging by the UK is to maintain alignment with the EU timetable. The links didn't work anyway - there were thousands of aeroplanes, but only two visibly on route from Aussie to Zealand. It was just a spot observation. One conclusion from looking at all the flights, instead of IAG shares, should have bought PCR kit and equipment manufacturers. If only I could borrow Stewie's time machine.....

On the short term basis, pension fund holding aside, as long as that PCR test features in travel this is at best going to nothing more than tread water. Both the cost and airport logistics are the issue. Even the lateral flow test is going to be a logistics issue with a smaller cost impact. Problem now is that the politicians have explicitly stated the PCR test should be part of the mix and pushing a U-turn in the best of times where politicians are concerned is difficult enough. So I would guess as a minimum the PCR test will be around for the first month form May 17th with a promised review on June 17th and only then will there be hints of it being replaced with lateral flow. I am sure the use of the PCR is more about using travellers as laboratory rats than stopping variants entering the country. There are thousands crossing the channel every day and they only need the lateral flow test at first, PCR if that is positive. So there is a very big question as to why holiday and airline passengers are not following the same now tried and tested methodology. I believe I did hear one Prof talking in an interview about the 'great opportunity' to monitor something or other.

Yes let us ignore what impact hysterical climate change policies might have on the airline industry. If you cast your mind back I had raised a couple of times over the previous weeks that I found it rather odd the climate lobby had not seized on the consequences of the pandemic. Last week a series of apparently unconnected references appeared. With the conferences coming up and lockdown ending I expect the lobby group to start to make moves. We may already be seeing it with the very deliberate damping down of a return to travel, or that may be an EU effect and given the prominence of the greens in EU politics, it may be a consequence of the two. Whichever way, ignore the effect of the climate change lobby group on share prices at your peril!
