Do remember, there are many journalists who thought they were being clever telling us how it would go despite many others saying it would be a slow methodical manoeuvre. Those claiming there would be a Hollywood shock and awe have been shown to be foolish. They put their chips on the square. But as is far too often the case these days, rather than standing up and accepting they did not second guess the strategy, they instead carry on as if their strategy was actually the original one and it must have gone wrong. Like with the backlash against covid lockdowns, hysterical climate change objectives, those that prophesied and got it wrong don't recoil these days, they just double down. Anybody been following the induced mass hysteria on R4 since the ULEZ was rejected by a real world poll?
And also remember, some reporters booked their vacations and cruises around their timetable of the counter offensive and have been made fools out of. They got it wrong and they will (and are) taking revenge with a brush of negative spin here and there in acute retaliation. There is nothing worse than a media scorned. Ask Trump!
The counter offensive began with a consolidation, training, equipment preparation. Then poking the Russian defensive lines. Stand back, evaluate, adjust. Poke again, stand back, evaluate, adjust. Step up sabotage and key target attacks, poke, stand back, evaluate, adjust. The poking is getting a bit more 'jabby' and in more than one place. The sabotage behind enemy lines continuing. So far all Russia has in response is canon fodder, grain silo attacks, a major environmental disaster and trying some rather weird diversion attack up north somewhere.
The defensive fortifications are being ground away. Wagner is preparing to launch diversionary attacks inside Poland hoping to scare Europe off into a retreat rather than a war. Wagner forces on NATO soil will be absolutely obliterated no mater how vocal the Kremlin gets threatening nuclear retaliation if Wagner are engaged. It has already been decided what the response will be and men and equipment already moved forward ready and waiting.
And whilst that is going on, Ukraine will continue chipping away at its own pace irrespective of impatient western journalists day by day, sometimes making a big push then consolidating, sometimes just poking looking for the holes.
When Wagner troops are totally crushed inside Poland(or Bulgaria or wherever the folly takes place), that might be the spark that unleashes all merry hell all across Russia, and beyond. China will take the east on the pretence of acting as peace keepers, the satellite states will grab what they can and ethnic lines will carve up the main territory while the oligarch armies knock ten bells out of each other and cripple the country back into some misty pre-industrial serfdom.
And nobody is going to come to Russia's aid. As you sow, so shall you reap.
