You missed the bus if you didn't close this morning!
Hopefully the fall today will see a lot of the remaining shorts close. Then GNK will trade on its fundamentals.
Trading Statement is due tomorrow so that should settle the matter
Rivaldo, all the trading news is good and yet Millennium International Management LP has reported a 0.5% Short (5th June). That the first Short over 0.5% since August 2014. Why would a Fund be betting against such an obvious recovery candidate? Do you think that this Short is causing the current price weakness?
You can read about it on https://www.marketwatch.com/story/prothena-shares-plummet-60-on-discontinued-drug-2018-04-23-8914543 ... but believe it to be a buying opportunity as the bad news is confirmed and therefore would expect shorts to close on Prothena
why would the share price increase 6% on a day in which no shares were traded? Seems strange.
Sunday Times punter Ian Cowie highlighted GNK in his column published 18th March by noting the 6.8% yield (approx x2 covered) when he bought at 490p. Certainly a big draw for an ISA account. He did flag the business issues facing the brewing sector and specifically the level of company debt. Anyone got an opinion on what will cause a re-rating of this share/sector?
jl5006 - am I correct to think that DB will then repurhase to close the Short? So what is the next trigger point for a mandatory RNS ? When a further 1% holding is transacted or are there other criteria?
Thanks Rxdav. Overall your theory makes sense to me. It does however suggest that the acquiring company would need somehow to pay the costs of the finance house that is using the sell algos. Such an exercise could be tricky for a PLC with governance issues. Saga would be a big target for a private company. Unless its being undertaken by a corporate reconstruction specialist eg KKR possibly with a hedge fund partner. Could Mulder give any further insights?
I'm fairly new to SP manipulation so can you please explain how the player, whose alogo selling is costing him so much, will benefit if there is a take over bid? Or did I misunderstand which party will benefit.
I hope you are right about the potential for a t/o because today's fall in price well exceeds the dividend. Certainly the company looks cheap at this price.
Thanks for your thoughts on Saga. And do let us know through this BB if you see another undervalued opportunity like HRG. In the meantime, I wish you a well deserved break.
I too want to congratulate Buller who steadfastly maintained his faith in this company that, as he says himself, the Market never fully understood. And I want to ask Buller, who has worked in the travel industry, whether he has an opinion about Saga which has been through the ringer in recent times. Would he put some of his winnings into Saga? Or do the two companies have different operating models?
>>>and also the direction of the pension deficit will have an influence on how far the price will rise.............
I noticed that the largest trade was done at 127.20 - well above the closing price. So was this trade made earlier in the day but its reporting delayed until after hours? Why does this happen?
for those who may have missed it....here is Woodford's update on PRTA that today was published in his blog https://woodfordfunds.com/words/blog/prothena/ It provides some information that helps put the present situation into context and should soothe some nerves.
Totally agree with you but just disappointed that the SP is at such a large discount to the Net Asset Value
I think the action will be this first half year when I look at the 2016-2017 Work Programme. Sibkrayevskoye Development Plan: · Development of Pad 1 with up to 7 vertical/slant wells and 6 horizontal wells · Construction of 26 km pipeline and power line from Pad 1 to Lineynoye central processing facilities Q1 · Commencement of development drilling and production Q2 So I think we'll get a production update and a progress report on YTD 2017 development work
.....some good news and the Sibkrayevskoye development on the horizon. Maybe this share will start to show some fizz. ....although there have been false starts before.....and there is a large shareholder whose motives I don't entirely trust.
That we were promised at end of June should be coming soon. Anyone have an idea as to the likely date? And what do people expect from it?
