Armatrader, You are just typical of the negative enemy within remainiacs. You produce music pleasing to the EU ears. A deal would have been done long ago had we all shown the EU we are united and if not a Canada style deal then no deal full stop.
France can punish us by keeping its cr4p Renaults, Citroens, Peugeots, champagne, cheese etc. WE LEFT GET USED TO IT or go live in the EU. I am fedup with "We can't leave without a deal" nonsense. No one would tell me to "crawl over broken glass" for a deal. They would receive a Churchill gesture instead. Our country is strong enough to stand on its own two feet. The first few years will be bumpy but once we get the wind in our sails we will leave the EU in the swamp of its own making. Long live Democracy. Up and onwards the Black Horse.

As RR is reducing its civil footprint in the UK there is no reason that the government can not buy its defense requirements from abroad. Loyalty swings both ways and I will be bringing this up with my MP. I still maintain that RR management are poor. When local managers furloughed themselves ( very thoughtful of them ) productivity actually went up. I miss the John Rose era, strong management and high productivity. No staring at graphs and charts, engineers producing swarf.
I think imho RR has found its trading level. Problems still ahead and more shares in circulation. Long gone are the £10 days.

You are bang on there. Its families, sons and daughters and friends that will suffer There are things I will not repeat on here from respect of security but a few years down the line there will be head aches for RR. the experience gone.

Smithy , 40 years ago front bearing housing shipped back to U as it could not be made correctly abroad. Same with a5 fan blade subcontracted back from Japan. Oil plug problem for gearbox shipped back from Spain. Rear bearing housing shipped back because of production problems, Industrial shipped back from siemens (Germany) because of unconformity. There are more. My worry is RR will lose this ability to react to problems.
To other posters, I am not left wing, anti management, pro union, anti capitalism. Not that its anything to do with you.

The Unite union has raised it many times on many peoples behalf. Its A worrying trend revenue defeating risk.

Beware here. I worked for this company for 35+years. It has become a shambles. Top heavy again with substandard managers and a BoD I would not trust to run a bath.
RR is systematically moving work abroad. The UK will be just an assembly shop soon with no innovation and the brains behind its engine design gone. It is letting go some first class engineers in favour of a quick buck abroad. When its next generation of engines are needed the people in Singapore will not be able to design them. With experience gone RR will flounder. A second government bailout as mirrored from 1971. This current set of directors will be gone by then of course, Enjoying their multi million pound pension pots backed up with free shares.
Having parts made abroad has proved very expensive mistakes in the past. They are just not good enough but that does not matter as long as a quick buck is made. Its my hope the government will show RR the same loyalty as RR has shown its employees and start sourcing defense and nuclear parts abroad. What is good for one is good for the other. I no longer think Quality is a concern to this company. Fan blade problems already exist with blades made in Singapore. Storing problems for the future. Heaven forbid an aircraft comes down from this BOD actions. Beware all.

The unit used to treat people with sickle cell disorder. This is a problem mainly for black people of African origin. I give the blood willingly so another persons life can be improved. If I climb my own tree and fall out its my fault. What I don't want is a neighbour telling me I am not allowed climb my own tree. Self determination and so on.
Why we left ,well I think there are a lot of reasons, the two main ones for me was migration and fishing. The country just can not sustain a quarter of a million people a year coming here to live. We are only a small island and can not feed the world. David Cameron tried to relieve this pressure but the EU thought it better to insult him and send him home with tail between his legs. There is an old saying " Twos company, threes a crowd. Britain was always the odd man out.

UK banks can start paying shareholders dividends again, according to the Bank of England.

The Prudential Regulation Authority, a regulator and part of the central bank, said banks are strong enough to do so.

Banks bowed to pressure in March and ceased dividend payments.

Banks including HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest, Santander and Barclays were due to pay billions of pounds to pension funds and private shareholders.

Stopping the payments allowed them to keep the capital and absorb bigger shocks from potential loan losses.
Sorry if this is old news but it gives me confidence to hold till next year.
