Scancell might argue that they have already given concise and accurate updates for Covidity and will update again when there is something to say.

If you read the RNS of 29th March, we were told that there had been a protocol amendment and what changes had been made - essentially opening up the study to vaccinated people (previously unvaccinated only). They were also clear that data would be expected in H2 2022 and we're not even at the end of H1 yet.

There seems to be some speculation on the boards based on the UCLI advert for the trial, but firstly, I'm not sure we've even established what wording (if any) has changed. Secondly, TF in response to your 13.21, I'm not sure I do agree with the suggestion that it's a sign that patients are responding so well that Scancell are now able to consider a one shot dosing regime. There could be any number of explanations for the one shot/two shot wording. For example, it could lie with the PharmaJet devices. It's possible that one of the two devices requires two shots to deliver the stated dose. This is the case with ZyCoV-D which is the Indian Covid vax and the World's first ever approved DNA vaccine. It also is delivered with a PharmaJet device and is a 3 dose vax. However, each dose is administered via 2 shots in 2 different sites (one in each arm I think), so the 3 dose regime actually requires 6 shots. Would need to try and find the links, but I remember reading somewhere that fractional doses using one of the PharmaJet devices are more effective than one full dose and therefore a lower overall dose can be given in two shots. There may well be other explanations, we just don't know.

Interesting discussions this morning. A few points (in no particular order whatsoever):-

1) Cash at at December was nearly £32m but on top of that nearly £5m was also due in R&D tax credits taking the cash runway through to Q2 2023. There is no immediate urgency around funding.
2) Biotech. has been through a tough time, particularly in the US, but good companies operating in the heathcare/life sciences/diagnostics sector are still getting decent fundings away. Redx pharma last week is a good example.
3) There clearly will be a need for funding at some point in the next year, but we have no idea how advanced Angle's disucssions are with potential partners or whether any deals will include upfront payments. Without being privvy to that information, it's impossible to make any realistic judgement calls on how much funding will be required, what form it will take or when it will happen.
4) Angle have been slowly putting in the infrastructure for commercialisation in anticipation of FDA approval. They don't need a huge sales team at this stage. That may change at some point in the future as they secure reimbursement codes/agreements, but for now there is plenty of low hanging fruit when it comes to commercialisation. If they targeted the medtech giants and major full service CROs and secured a handful of contracts it would be transformational and I'm sure that's exactly what they're out there doing right now.

Think it's highly unlikely that we'd ever get an update on one patient - there are all sorts of ethical considerations around confidentiality when reporting on just one or two patients. The next update might be completion of the safety run-in cohort of patients (possibly with an some high level details on how they responded). IMO of course.

Angle, a junior blood biopsy supplier, has won American approval for its blood testing system for cancer, Parsortix.

The approval from the US Food and Drug Administration means that Parsortix, which harvests and analyses cells, can now be tested on patients with metastatic breast cancer.

The Parsortix technology harvests rare cells, such tumour cells, from a blood sample and then analyses them.

Angle said the clearance was the first time the FDA had approved a product that harvests tumour cells for analysis.

The company said the system has the potential to “transform treatment decisions for cancer patients as it opens up the opportunity for repeat non-invasive biopsies to assess cancer status”.

Andrew Newland, founder and chief executive, said: “By making the Parsortix system widely available, we intend to support the entire industry in its adoption of liquid biopsy solutions.”

Analysts at Jefferies, said the clearance should cement Parsortix as the“gold standard” for harvesting cancer cells.

Had Angle on my watchlist for at least 2 years before finally buying my first tranche in 2017 at 40.45p. Delighted with today's news obviously but also very hopeful that CTC liquid biopsies will make a real difference in the future - not only to cancer patients but also to any companies developing drugs in the field of oncology.

No I don't think so, Scancell have been a clinical stage biotech since 2010.

Marcus' tweet appeared on my timeline but I didn't retweet as I'm not sure that Avidimab would extend the patent life of other mAbs. I don't remember Scancell ever making this claim. Marcus/anyone else know for sure this is the case?

It may not be immediately obvious, but this is very different from the steady flow of peer reviewed research publications we have seen. The announcement today is for a full blown clinical trial in 200 patients carried out by a top and internationally recognised cancer centre - not at Angle's request but because the researchers at St. Barts believe that Parsortix will improve clinical outcomes for prostate cancer patients. Moreover, the trial is being funded by Prostate Cancer UK who will be a powerful advocate for practice change should the trial be successful.

A perfect example of the beauty of Angle's business model - the market for CTC liquid biopsies is evolving in front of our eyes and is largely being created by independent oncology researchers from some of the very top institutions in the World. Any trial trying to predict disease progression will take time as you obviously have to wait to see whether that progression occurs and 5 years is a fairly standard cut off. Although there are likely to be updates along the way, it's not so much the timing of the results that is significant today, it's the fact that that the trial is happening at all. A quote from Prof. Yong-Jie Lu, lead researcher at St. Barts:-

'If our hypothesis is correct, we hope that this blood test will become the future standard of care for these patients.'

Jazz issued its Q1 results a couple of weeks ago and worth noting their comments regarding JZP815. This is the Pan-RAF inhibitor developed by Redx and acquired by Jazz in the first of the Jazz/Redx deals. Under the terms of the deal, the next milestone payment from Jazz to Redx will be triggered when the FDA clears an IND application. The Q1 results from Jazz, provide an update on their pipeline and if you scroll down to the Key Pipeline Highlights section in the link below, under the JZP815 section the final bullet point states:- 'The Company plans to submit an IND for JZP815 this year'.

So another milestone payment should be received in H2 if all goes according to plan.

An impressive funding round given the current environment for Biotechs with strong support from Redmile and Sofinnova who have invested £16.2m and £10m respectively. Interesting to see that Redmile's overall holding reduces down to around 73.6% and Sofinnova increases to 12.8%. Also good to see a significant investment from NED, Sarah Gordon Wild as well as participation from Lisa Anson and Dr. Jane Griffiths. On top of all that, yet another specialist helathcare fund has taken a position in Redx and it's really good to see the level of interest here from the specialist funds.

Expect it will be completed swiftly and efficiently. Good to see that they're raising a decent amount and there appears to be strong institutional support.

No, afaik it's the date the first patient consented to join the trial and they would then need to undergo screening etc.

If you exclude the unconverted CLNs Redmile's average is just under 9p. If you include the CLNs then it's around 10p. I'm not sure about Vulpes as I've lost track with all the smaller trades but I'd guess it's a fair bit lower than Redmile's.

Good to see that the Modi-1 record has been updated on clinicaltrials.gov to show that Imperial College are now recruiting.

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to work all of that out.

If Vulpes or another director had bought the remaining joint ownership shares, wouldn't that be notifiable and trigger a director dealing RNS? Also as you say the Directors and related holdings of 19,242,678 shares as at 10 August 2021 have only dropped by 4,459,681 but actually they should have dropped by 8,773,960 - the total number of joint ownership shares in which she had an interest. Redmile bought 4,459,681, a private investor bought 2,380,952 and we were told that she no longer had any interest in the remaining 1,933,327 shares.

Given the above and all of your calculations, it's hard to make sense of it - ie. why do the 2,380,952 shares bought by the private investor and the remaining 1,933,327 joint ownership shares still appear to be included in the directors and related holdings total?
