dubmaskullanga/AMcG...'β’ βSignificant success to date in creating the market, especially in South Africaβ for someone like FM who does not exaggerate at all this is mystifying as the eskom trial is mentioned separately β big news here especially in light of meeting the 1,000mwh 2020 target'
What about investment in battery manufacturer to get local production established relatively quickly which could easily be set up on the back of contracts being awarded to/in the pipeline for that battery manufacturer?? Contracts may already be in the negotiating stage.
'Moreover, Bushveld Energy is looking to invest in the construction of an assembly plant to assemble and manufacture VRFBs as a critical next step in the process of accelerating Bushveld Mineralsβ growth into the battery storage market in South Africa.
This longer term opportunity is dependant on the market demand and how quickly that grows, and could involve direct investment into a VRFB company that would own the facility
The company will in 2019 execute a techno-economic study to evaluate how cost-effective this would be and identify which components should be imported or sourced locally, should this project go ahead.'

and lease deals:
'To solve this Bushveld hopes to lease the metal to battery companies as well as assemble the batteries in South Africa. It wants to build a $10m plant to produce battery electrolyte, backed by the state-owned Industrial Development Corporation.
Under this model Bushveld guarantees a supply of vanadium at a fixed price in return for an annual fee and smaller upfront payment. When the battery comes to the end of its life after about 20 years, Bushveld receives the vanadium back, which it can then re-sell. The vanadium is completely re-usable, it says.
βWe think this concept is going to revolutionise the industry since it will take out arguably the single largest risk factor, which is the price,β said Fortune'
