Anyone conversant with AIM rules, specifically the requirement to notify when holdings cross certain threshold ?
CLON's website shows the correct number of shares issued as a total, but in the holder break down it is 2bn short - clearly not showing the Aussie brokers' holdings.
So, anyone know why these brokers seem to be excused from the requirement to report their significant holdings, and any changes ?
Hi Netherwood.
Well, first I should of course say of course I don't actually know. But it looks like they have been dumping for a while and if you run any kind of business you have a model and stick to it, don't get distracted.
In my view, and looking at what happened with Sasanof, the Aussie investors are not in for high risk speculative investing, and they don't want their money tied up for long. Their model, quick in, quick out with a profit, reinvest elsewhere - i.e. turnover. A small profit in the hand is better than a large profit that may never happen (and your capital is at risk).
I think you may have a point Chitta.
The obvious question is, if Ghana, then why no action with PET. The equally obvious answer I suppose is that it wouldn't be possible to pick up a large volume of PET in a relatively short time without spiking the price.
I still don't understand though why the 'someone' wouldn't just buy them direct and cut out the trading costs. Although perhaps there could be some cross border complications and on balance the trading platform is a more efficient and cost effective mechanism.
CLON was never in the running for this anyway.
From update last year....
"In Bolivia we hope to conclude a Technical Cooperation Agreement on a systematic mapping exercise shortly. Clontarf Energy did not participate in the pilot plant testing of Direct Lithium Extraction technologies in Bolivia, since Clontarf is a user of such services rather than a services provider. Our proposal is to explore and develop mid-sized Bolivian lithium salt-lakes."
Apart from the distinction between DLE provider vs user, note also, 'mid-sized'.
Topreasearchdone (oxymoron)....
Saying clon acquisition of a producing asset is coming - who knows, but their last pronouncement was that Western Gas would be drilling Sasanof last week !
Get the salt out - but then you never know.
And I'd agree, CLON seen to have more irons in the fire.... it's not clear how far in or how hot though - to torture the metaphor.
PET is playing it's irons closer to it's chest - to mix and torture metaphors.
You could cover the bases and line your bottom drawer with both.
I don't think asking other shareholders their opinion on what the fund raising might be for (more specifically than that given in the RNS) is in any way ramping. Some responses may amount to it though and others can highlight those. But to silence discussion because of the risk of eliciting ramps risks shutting down reasonable and informed discussion - after all, some here know more than others and we can all learn. This board is pointless without discussion - we should encourage it IMO.
Whatever works for you - as I say, there are many ways. But note:
MCap is simply, outstanding shares x share price.
And since your investment is, number is shares x purchase price, and your profit or loss is the movement in price x your holding, it makes sense to me at least, to make the comparison using the same denominators.
But each to their own.
Iamrich... CLON has 60%, not 70%. Pet has 30%, state owned co. has the balance.
So, one way to answer your question is...
Take an estimated value for the asset, whatever you like, the figure doesn't matter for this exercise but it might be fun trying to forecast it.
Divide 60% of that by the number of CLON shares.
Divide 30% by the number of PET shares.
Divide each by their respective prevailing share price to get the multiples.
Compare and decide.
And if we only comment on published facts we would be here never.
Well as good as never - much of the content of a CLON RNS is hypothesis !
Nothing wrong with hypothesising on this board though Chitta, discussion can be interesting, and anyway, is easily ignored.
