I think that sounds reasonable Ophidian. Actually there is an additional £2000 nil rate band for dividends on top of the £11850 personal allowance. So potentially £13850 of dividends tax free this tax year. I think you are correct about being able to claim a CGT loss on the ex dividend share value, and using that against gain on the BMN shares. I wish I had thought about that myself before having to sell some earlier this week. Do get a second opinion though before committing to the strategy.
First time I have seen Bushveld Minerals on Hargreaves Lansdown midday email of most traded stocks of day (at number 5). Buys 77.5% and sells 22.5%.
Think you may need some elves soon Alfa!
@ somtam67. This tax year £11700. Yes only liable when you sell, and any losses on other shares can be used to offset. look on Gov.uk for advice.
My first sale of 30068 @43.4p These were the only ones I held outside an ISA or SIPP. I had got unexpectedly close to CGT limit for year. Will put back into an ISA in a few days. Just housekeeping!
Wow, 50% (15p) up on your T20. Is that a record Knuttie?
Serenus could be a brokers auto trade to pay for a monthly fee on a SIPP or ISA account?
Thanks Razor. My first 10 bagger in 30 years of stock market investment! Good luck with yours. I am holding for a few more years yet.....and then retiring!
Today’s price is exactly 10 x my first purchase price back in October 2013. Still have that 100,000, plus many more at much higher purchase prices. Think I may open a beer or 2 this weekend!
Just finished my weekend catchup of 2 days posts. Best wishes Richken & Claire. Thinking of you both, along with Knuttie & Liz. I’m hoping that Richken’s 14/02 Corbine Cup entry is the winner, and all of you will be toasting good health that day.
First purchase 14/10/13 40,000 @ 4.07p total £1639.95. Hadn’t realised until just now it was 5 year anniversary!
Nice posts Ludeck, Squirtyflower, Loudspeaker. We are all very lucky to have invested when we did. I dont quite have a million of these, but there is no way I would be able to accumulate that number if I started now. That said, anyone buying fresh today should still be pleased in a “Fevertree” type way in two or three years. Personally, I am now thinking that the dividends going forward from about 2020 will be enough to keeep me holding the lot into retirement!
Not at all worried about short term drops. But advance warning, I am going to sell all of mine at £3.33.😀
18/12/19 £100 win or lose.
@ Clark.. I like your JLP & HOF CEO comparison. I would certainly rather be under the guidance of Fortune than Mike Ashley. Look at his attitude towards inherited customers, and suppliers. Compare that to the honourable way Fortune has treated his workers recently. Chalk and cheese!
These are a lovely set of results, and as Daisan says, just as expected, with no shocks. This is just the start.
Congrats Milkman!, plus all of us of course. We are now officially at the start line. £1 will be 18/12/19.
However, that club maybe full in 3 years time! Always nice to have a dream on a Sunday morning. Been away since Friday, too many posts to read, but thanks Alfa for the Friday analysis. Its better than anything on tv at the moment.
Looking forward to our review of next week.
Where would you like your seat, first class, second class, or battery class?😀
Stowski. Not my normal method of purchasing any shares, however I normally save £500 each month and get the princely interest of about £100 at 12 months. This time I thought, why not buy at a low price, and pay off £500/month. I think any of us would expect the BMN price to be substantially over 20p in 18 months. I’ve done it the conventional way previously, but would have a lot more shares today if I had “taken a chance”. I do not buy any crypto’s, but each to their own.
