It’s not the storage that’s the issue is it. It’s the method used in the creation of them with associated risks and impacts .

But the Storage was exactly the problem. Only problem was the fake lawyer wasn't bright enough to see it, even after the verdict.

I think this is a Freudian slip and goes to show where

I am not convinced that hyrdrogen can work at scale for the grid. There are several reasons for this but the primary one from my learning is that it burns much hotter than methane. A direct consequence of this is that in a grid as the mix increases so does the combustion temperature and this creates mechanical (materials) related issues for OCGTs and CCGTs in that the turbine blades can deform. These power plants are by their nature receiving grid specification gas (in this case a mixture of H2 and CH4). New power stations could run on H2 but would require a direct supply or be desgned for a variable grid blend subject to GSMR limits. So the latest decision on the ML is likely to make the whole saga somewhat more unlikely in terms of reaching the development stage but I do not rule it out. We know H2 is a smaller molecule and that creates integrity issues for containment and transportation but as a for instance(there are several options here) the power plants in proximity to IslandMagee could be repurposed using stored H2 from green power electroylsis or direct from source with storage providing back-up when the wind is down etc. So for those keen on this keep your hopes up. Ireland is a huge source of windpower but the intermittency issue is where the storage may have a life! All in all very disappointing but fits with the Labour Party narrative regarding UKCS licensing.

Well said Nobby, a joy to read a opinion , from someone that actually has Real knowledge on this subject ( as opposed to fake). There are a number of companies out there that have created successful Hydrogen fuel cells. This would create further wide range usage possibilities for the stored Hydrogen. Electric cars are no more Greener, if the electric is produced from Fossil Fuels. Vehicles running of Green Hydrogen electricity are the the Nirvana of Net Zero.

Exactly my point. I will repeat this for those hard of hearing. The appeal won because gas is a fosil fuel and would lock in an anti gov policy agenda, Hydrogen is not. Application with hydrogen as the stored fuel, would get the Wokies in the assembly dancing in the streets. There would be no objections to the project. Once again the fake Lawyer can not point to anything specic ( as real lawyers do, just some general tosh, read pages blah blah. You have to make specific legal points to win cases, thats why the appeal won. Mind you only a real lawyer would understand this.
