Surely, if your £40K investment is now worth only a couple of grand, it might still be worth selling. A couple of grand is better than several hundred. I was told never to consider your original purchase price when selling. Instead you should focus on what the future is likely to bring.

Just received a letter in post directly from Lloyds saying that my 400 Non-Cumulative Preference Shares are to be redeemed on 15 Sept and the proceeds sent to me. No idea what this is about as the shares must have been bought over 10 years ago and are not in my ISA investment account. The letter mentions 100p plus 3.2p interest per share. Does that make any sense?
