I just dont see a buyer with a £ billion to buy Lakeside when the tenants wont pay. The bond holders wont take a knock down price. They have to decide who will pay up the most. Intu under a deal or the other major centre owners....and they are all skint. Thats the problem with Intu.....just so big.

No chance....you can run a shop as a going concern but not a huge shopping centre. You need to employ thousands of staff...and pay them. You need to run 24 hour security and safety and so on. The insurance cost is huge. Sure the administrators can probably sort Lakeside out in a week but they want 50 million £ upfront to reopen. Or all the liabilities fall on them. The tenants wont pay, the bond holders dont want to pay.....so who will stump up 50 million? That wont last long.....

All these huge centres should agree to close on a weekend. It cant go on....refusing to pay rent yet expecting thousands of staff to be employed and paid for by the commercial landlords.

My view is that this will settle down now at about 1.50p. I think that is fair value although back to around the 1.1p level is not impossible. Calif was always the idea and it looks like a two year wait now until the next opportunity. I have held Web for many years so I can wait longer...but this is not great news.

Sure and I will stay invested longer term....but we have to be realistic. This was 1p in mid May and the price was always about California vote going ahead. I doubt this will collapse tomorrow but the market will rerate this over the next few weeks of course. Still a bid target and a deal is still on at some stage....

Unless there is a last minute deal....not impossible... that's that. Just not ready yet. Maybe another year?

What about Web? My suggestion is to think about selling some on the bell if you have too much cash invested here. Web is not dear but has risen 250 per cent on the basis of this vote going through.

This sector has been bad news for investors for a while now. Selling the housebuilding side ... the crown jewels.

Cheap but it may stay there until results. Buy below 120p and it has been 112p a week or so ago....has been my strategy.

Got mine on Friday. Vote in California tomorrow night and very bullish for Hills. Can see a bid from the Done brothers if goes through. 225p is my guess.

What I have done....I agree. Let the "professional" short sellers get a real kicking and PI's get a big winner as a result. For a change.

If I remember some buyers of new world were told they could not have the stock on delivery day so couldn’t sell...because there simply was not stock at all to deliver. All very interesting!!

Yes and Tom is in a similar position. More shares short sold than actually exist.The stock exchange got heavily criticised over that one.

Yes have heard 0.6 placing from a couple of sources now. The alternative would be to suspend the stock as “not an orderly mkt”. I hold but sold some towards the close to get a free carry because I don’t think the stock mkt will allow this short squeeze to continue. They have stopped it in the past and heavily fined those involved. They cannot just ignore it...not an orderly market. I can think of a couple of examples where they trotted out the excuse that small investors might get burnt.lol White Nile was another example and there was one ...a Chinese based one that never came back out. If the placing is wrong and I know what the company said...then remember the stock market hates this type of squeeze. We of course all love it!
