'Chinese walking the high wire on debt. I think they know it and are trying to underwrite the dedt with gold to hold it in place' Yes I absolutely agree (hello peeps) Strangely enough I'm looking at both this and Orosur, nice to see some familiar faces. Gold price feels very tense at the minute (that's my technical terminology for it)
Interested to see which (if any) other U3O8 share people hold. Personally I'm in BKY (12% of portfolio) Deep Yellow (5%) and a company called Greenland Minerals and Energy, which is more REE with U3O8 as a side (4%) I'm looking to add perhaps 2-3 more in the near term and am looking at NexGen (due to the resource), Energy Fuels (ready to go US producer, not 100% on their production costs) and Uranium Energy Corp (another US producer) I don't really want more that 25% of my holdings in U3O8 so it will depend to an extent on how my other holdings do.
I agree with your assessment NigWit. I reality this SP has held well over the last week or so in relation to other shares, maybe because we are approaching news and people don't want to sell it until they know one way or the other. As for if its now a good time to buy, who knows? What I do know is that I'm glad I'm hedged in gold!
I'm with you Baht, research and hold - then see if you are right or not
Even if there is a placing I think it will be similar to last years and not have the effect that HUR/SXX have had. Their projects dwarf this in both capex and timescales. But nothing wrong with 'wait and see'
This is a very different kettle o fish to HUR (which is still firmly on my watchlist, I have a bit of a soft spot for it) but wait for funding news if it makes you keel better. As you say once bitten etc, but if you are interested stay sharp, lots of different factors can move this.
There will surely be a forecast U3O8 price where a placing would turn out to be favourable to a strategic partnership, no? Let's have a massive resources upgrade that trebles the SP then place at market price, that'll do me.
Thanks for the links Baht. I already own some DYL, my aim is to have reasonable stakes 5 different U miners within the next 12 months (3 at the minute) then fingured crossed on the U price or its off to the poor house (and probably the divorce courts!)
I hold my shares with IG and couldn't trade Nexgen with them (presumed they were TSX only) so havnt paid much attention, but it now seems they have added it from the NYSE feed. Just had a quick look and that's one heck of a deposit they've got there! High capex but will have a dig deeper over the weekend.
No one likes nuclear but everyone needs nuclear. Maybe in 50 - 100 years we won't need it, but certainly not in the next 5-10. You can't just turn it off, and it needs fuel. Personally I like nuclear power and always have, however the idiots in charge of it are sometimes questionable.
I believe they also have a clause in their off takes that sees the price rise if spot U shoots above the off take price (from an interview with pa, financial fox IIRC) I doubt this will track the spot if it skyrockets as obviously the off takers will need to spread their risk from paying higher than spot in low markets but lower than spot in high markets. With this in mind I suppose the trick is balancing the percentage you want to let go at off take price and the term of the off take agreement with your view on how bullish the U price will be. Now add into the mix a possible strategic partner and their requirements from the project. ingeresting times
Lots of buying in US uranium equities this afternoon, wonder if ASX will follow it tonight? Havnt heard any relevant news as to why though, any ideas?
Looks either like a mugging or a prep for some pretty serious dilution, my gut feeling is the former. Welcome to 'why it's good to have a diversified portfolio' 101 They knew this ages ago and should have kept shareholders up to date, or are completely incompetent, or are crooks. I've not had any experience of this before in a holding (have had a couple where I've just scrapped out in time), what happens now? Our shares just disappear and magically re-appear as shares in a new company (if it happens)?
Good luck NigWit - Must say I have been tempted to move some out myself but I'm holding firm! I'm expecting some news here before October so we shall wait and see. As a side U3O8 shares in general seem to have had a bit of upward movement in the last couple of days, so that seems positive.
hate to say I told you so, but I told you so! Luckily I managed to dump my holdings in Paladin when it re-listed briefly earlier in the year but not a good situation for people holding, never nice. Interestingly enough the Questor write up did seem to boost GCL share price, last I looked it was trading above NAV (which is very unusual). Wonder if any of the Telegraph readers will have the gumption to look into GCL's holdings and pick up some BKY?
Looking at the rest of my portfolio I'll settle for flat all things considered
'Someone grab the defibrillator !!' Last time I posted something similar about the flat lining SP it swiftly dropped a little so your taking the blame for this one Baht!!! :-)
I've been in and out of GCL over the last year (currently out), it seems to trade under its NAV consistently, main problem with it at the minute IMO is that 6% of its holdings are in Paladin, and it wouldn't surprise me if they went bust (currently suspended), they are in all sorts of trouble!
All off the top of my head as dont have time to reference - Negative points are- Mine operation been pushed back to Q1 2019, based on 4.5 mpa mine life of only 14 years but inferred resources to 21 years and just started further drilling to expand beyond this (touch wood), further funding required $70m and not confirmed how this will be raised, some objections from local green groups (surprise, surprise) Cant think of anything else particularly negative but obviously cost overruns and delays with mine build play a part (although its quite a straightforward build from what I understand)
Hmmm, reminds me of those films set in New York where there's a crowd of people walking in the same direction and the protagonist is walking the other way.
