RE: Construction9 May 2022 10:10
kind of supports what I was saying only last week, only to be shot down by Haggis. The construction industry wants to get to net zero construction but is many years away from flooding sites with fuelcell systems. I still believe fuelcell systems are the answer but they will be supported by solar, battery storage and perhaps wind if there is a long term site establishment. On their own these are not perhaps sufficient and the fuel cell can provide instantaneous balance of power. However, all the time diesel generators are owned by hire companies the drive will be to utilise these using cleaner fuels (cleaner meaning renewable or sustainable) such as HVO. This is what I am seeing anyway.
If you can imagine a site establishment with several 40 ft cabins there is significant roof space to adopt solar on each. This will be nowhere near sufficient to power a site if the vehicles are all EV's but it will provide 10s of kw's and is very cheap.
