All initial exploration looks for the basement lithologies. This allows planning for follow up drilling, ie whether to RC or Diamond drill.
A lot of explorers use the cheaper air core drilling, it’s cheap because it’s hit and miss and may not get very deep if it hits hard rock.
100m is about a max , our exploration team seems more precise they don’t drill like that, they use data to pin point drill targets.
If you look at that link I posted earlier on Ggpchat that cross section where I’ve drawn on the basement contour from a line of drills is a good way to understand what’s happening down there. These were RC drills they then extended these drills with diamond cores. Cores are the best method to understand the geology, aircore blasts the geology to bits, RC is bagged in samples
