RE: Takeover25 Jul 2022 12:18
I really can’t see this happening with NCM, they are in the middle of a production slump
Telfer was due to be finished by 2023, weak grades are just about keeping the lights on, decreasing commodity prices are threatening this operation.
Cadia is in the middle of a transition from one section to another, full production expected 2025.
Lihir transition to different sections of the mine due to contaminates in the ore.
Walfi slow progress on approvals
Slow progress with Wilki jv
2 acquisitions Pretium and Red Chris to bolster reserves, huge sums being used for exploration and mining methods.
Shareholders rebelling on low dividend payments.
Havieron priority is down the list
No sign of them buying out other jv
With Telfer threatened with closure the chances of only finding 4moz at Havieron would not have saved Telfer and may have been seen as uneconomic at those depths.
HAD 005 was certainly not seen as a satellite drill hole, you’ve all seen that presentation over the weekend with that egg shape anomaly.
The uncertainties over Havieron and Telfer a couple of years back were the restricting factors on NCM taking the risk on spending too much before closing Telfer.
NCM seem to be regarding Ggp as a good working partnership and have allowed Ggp to keep management of the Juri jv due to their competence in exploration.
New high calibre staff at Ggp is augmenting the Havieron jv committee not hindering it.
