Hi James
I doubt the Decline has reached 2,000m yet, I asked Shaun several times about the average daily rate and he wasn’t forthcoming with any info and was surprised we knew about the accident at Cadia. That accident he said led to a 3 day Health and Safety course but I think it was 5.
My 5m average rate should have given a length of 1940m by the 21st Sep but turned out to be 3m, therefore 25 days on it may be 1980m.
In the last interview he mentioned the lower aquifer and breaching into it, my calcs suggest the breach to be at 2,100m.
From the bore reports they reported water quantity estimates from P90 high to a P10 low, from the last assessment the estimates were nearer the P10. Shaun gave the impression it was going to cause issues and the size of the evaporation pond looks like they are expecting a lot.
In London Shaun also said they are putting in far more overtaking bays than planned.
I don’t think these are just tunnel widening points as the wider it goes the higher the roof has to be. I would imagine it’s a dual tunnel for a few metres.
Releasing the water pressure in the aquifer could slow it up initially but it’s a harder rock so the rate should accelerate if the water pressures ease.
The Decline layout has totally changed according to those graphics, ie less metres for the ancillary drives and vents.
He was being very conservative by saying reaching the ore by June, Byrnecut contract finishes in May. That is everything completed by May.
He stated in that interview there is still a lot of work after that to reach the first production level
