Nice part of the world, I’m doing a stint in Asia at the moment but home is a bit further up the M40. If / when this hits 100p I’ll buy you lunch at Bicester Village….lets hope we don’t have to wait too long! Just seen a bit of bad news coming out from Ibiza on the launch and seems all didn’t go to plan, but actions taking place to sort it so hopefully it’s just temporary new operations issues!

This week, from 1 April, we are launching the new public transport system in Ibiza (Consell Insular d'Eivissa ). We are excited to transform the way the island is mobile with a modern, efficient and sustainable fleet of more than 100 vehicles.

In this first phase, we have already presented 22 new buses, of which 10 are 100% electric and 12 hybrid, moving towards a model in which 66% of the fleet will be zero emissions.

This project involves a comprehensive improvement of the service, with a 50% increase in the kilometres travelled, greater connectivity between urban centres and peripheral areas and a reinforcement of the service throughout the year. In addition, we have incorporated new digital solutions such as the Mobi4U Alsa app, which allows you to consult lines, frequencies and waiting times in real time, along with a 24-hour customer service.

The deployment will involve nearly 400 professionals and an investment of around 40 million euros, and will be carried out progressively over the coming months, consolidating a more sustainable, efficient and future-proof transport model

In Alsa we continue to move towards more sustainable mobility in Cantabria with the presentation in Liencres (Piélagos) of two new zero-emission electric buses, which are incorporated into the services in the surroundings of the Bay of Santander.

These new units are in addition to those already integrated in 2023 and 2024, consolidating an increasingly efficient and environmentally friendly fleet, which already reaches six zero-emission vehicles and represents 38% of the total on these lines.

This progress is the result of an investment of 4 million euros aimed at the decarbonisation of our operations in the area, including both the acquisition of vehicles and the development of the necessary charging infrastructure.

These additions are in addition to the recently integrated high-capacity articulated buses, allowing us to respond to the growth in demand, which in 2025 has increased by 7.4% compared to the previous year.

Thanks to this fleet, we avoid the emission of approximately 840 tons of CO₂ per year, directly contributing to improving air quality and building a more efficient and responsible transport model.

Thanks for sharing Bert and that’s a decent average all things considered. I too am convinced by the new management approach and future, but have been holding for too long so going to wait a little longer to see how this plays out before buying more.

The work carried out by the people of Alsa in the internationalisation and electrification of the fleet is very important.

And responding to the needs of citizens requires achieving zero-emission vehicles at the pace they are needed.

A few days ago we presented, in #Lisboa, the new fleet of 60 electric buses - with which we reach a total of 127 - and, in #Oporto, we have incorporated 53 new electric buses, reaching the figure of 78.

From 1 April 2026, in Alsa we will take over the operation of Ibiza's new regular road transport service. We face this challenge under a 10-year contract and an investment of more than 88 million euros, with the firm intention of transforming the island's mobility.

The new model was presented yesterday together with the Consell Insular d'Eivissa, marking the beginning of this strategic stage for public transport on the island.

The project involves a comprehensive transformation of the service, with a new fleet of 100 vehicles, of which 64 will be 100% electric and 3 hybrid. The operation will incorporate improvements aimed at both sustainability and user experience: real-time geolocation through QR code and the Alsa app, card payment on all buses, free WiFi, streaming in-flight entertainment, USB ports and fully accessible and inclusive vehicles.

The service will be structured in 61 lines that will connect the whole of the island, with about six million kilometres per year and capacity to transport approximately six million passengers.

This operation will make Ibiza the territory with the highest proportion of zero-emission vehicles within Alsa operations in Spain, reinforcing the company's commitment to more efficient, digital and emission-free mobility.

Operating in a destination with an international projection such as Ibiza means raising even higher standards of demand, quality and professionalism.

With this new contract, we reinforce our commitment to modern, sustainable public transport prepared to respond to the needs of residents and visitors.

Just when you think it might turn, it does the exact opposite! So many ifs and buts but I supposed that’s the issue, it needs concrete evidence of things changing and at the moment that’s not happening…..painful!

Article posted 6 days ago referencing the recent fare increases in Morocco - “Commuters flooded social media with videos of heated confrontations with bus employees after a 1.5-dirham fare hike went into effect on Monday.”

Had to look up the exchange rate and equates to about 12p!

Worth reading the full article but does raise questions as to why they didn’t raise fare prices previously if operating at a ‘financial loss’

Headline looks bad, but this feels like a sensible walk-away from a low-return, politically constrained contract rather than a real earnings issue. The transition appears clean, with limited cost or disruption, and fits Mobico’s broader focus on cash discipline and simplifying the portfolio. I don’t see this changing the investment case.

I thought the shares were performance related - Brian Egan was awarded 2.5 million shares in June when the price was about 29p. These shares only vest if Mobico’s performance over the next three years beats the FTSE 250, and there is a further two-year holding period after vesting.

Fair play Firepower1 - I might agree with your style of post, or the language you use but you certainly have called it right given the continued drop. I am a long term holder so average is in the 70s, and will hold as still think that it could turnaround in a couple of years! Not ideal but picked the wrong horse with this one in the Covid recovery race!
