Radium, I struggle to understand how a 'proposal on the table' could not be described as substantial, the Shroeder statement doesn't seem to agree with todays RNS.

So the RNS this morning isn't correct?.....and substantive talks have taken place. Are they allowed to mislead the market like that?

TRMR seems to be a business that is as much about people as technologies (probably why key personnel are paid so well)....so any 'deal' would have to secure that those key people stayed on. But is there anyone who has +£1bn to buy TRMR and wants to pay that for its technology & personnel? Acquisition or merger more likely IMO. But I would love to be given >£10 per share to be proven wrong!!
Current 'news' seems more an attempt to scare away shorters.

I doubt that theory is correct....not even sure what is meant by 'big players'!
Oil companies will want to maintain revenue & profits from fossil fuels for as long as possible....it doesn't seem sensible to break their business model by investing in technologies that will reduce the demand for their main product. The only way this would make good business sense is if they can generate more profits from renewables than oil....plus their management expertise is in oil & gas and not wind turbines or EV charging points!!

So more often than not these discussions come to nothing.
However the idea behind the story - potential talks - will hopefully give any concerted shorters sleepless nights!!

Lots of red flags have been created...it is difficult to know what the truth is.
1. Director sales....have been explained as automatic sales that aren't under the control of the directors who own the shares.
2. Profit warning rumour....something I hadn't heard about until it was mentioned by Ofer at the very end of the investor presentation (why bring it up?)
3. Merger/buyout talks...now we get confirmation that they are in talks with a third party.

I wish I knew what is going on. If they didn't have £300m in the bank I would be very worried. Hopefully some positive news soon. Probably a buy back announcement next step.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. Went to Aldi and they had plenty in the frozen isle. Crinkled or straight... the world is your lobster.

JazzyB, I struggled to get 'buy' quotes on Halifax this morning (circa 8:20am), just got an error message. But a bit later it seemed to sort itself. Could be just Halifax who aren't the most reliable!

Makros, You say that BARC is 'hated', I suggest it may partly be because returns for investors aren't sufficient, especially when compared to investment banker pay. But you suggest investment bankers will always get the biggest slice of the cake (if not most of it). What is your solution to making BARC less 'hated'?

Obviously it is a problem. The question is why don't financial regulators stamp down on it?!

As a private investor there isn't much we can do, apart from writing to TRMR management or our MP. They aren't probably interested..

I believe there was a 'Robinhood' group of private investors who caused a short squeeze on Gamestop shares. The financial regulator clamped down on the 'Robinhood' group and NOT the hedge funds shorting the share in the first place. Says it all really!!

As PI's we might lose a few thousand due to shorting & market manipulation but when a hedge fund gets it wrong they lose billions....so the regulator seemingly protects the big players to maintain market confidence!! Go figure.

Tricky, Yes of course....but it shouldn't be too difficult by the US & UK financial regulators working with crime enforcement. Follow the money. If there are large share purchases (£10,000's) and they come from the same source or share certain characteristics then that would be a red flag....if a link can be found to an organisation that shorted the share in US the previous day then there is the foundations for a case. Follow the money.
You and I should be safe if we inadvertently buy a few thousand shares during this period.

Something did seem to happen Friday morning...the SP dropped to circa 580p when London opened, but 25 minutes later it jumped like a rocket back up towards the previous day closing price. It seemed rather odd.
Mind you, if this does happen on a regular basis it should be easy to track who bought the shares first thing and investigate them for manipulating the market.

Hate!!...a very emotive term.
Perhaps unloved....but there could be historic reasons for that, I can think of about 100. If they keep generating significant profits and start to reward investors , rather than solely their investment bankers, then 'perhaps' that 'hate' will turn into Love!!

Hopefully TRMR management will use the current SP to add value to the company through some sort of buyback. Perhaps use the cash pile to make a strategic acquisition. They are doing PR shows to try to raise the company profile. But ultimately the numbers will have to do the talking. Better to concentrate on strengthening the technology of the company and win new business then worry about the short term ups & downs of a fickle market.

I agree, the chances of another full lockdown in the UK is relatively small IMO.
The UK government will do almost everything to avoid one. Plan B - masks, passports, et al - before that.

Radium, are you sure that share buybacks can be used to support the price of a share? I though the structure of buybacks was designed to prevent accusations of price manipulation.
Obviously a share buyback might 'inadvertently' support the SP but it would not be the stated primary goal, surely.

It almost sounds like a brass plate exercise for tax purposes.
I know that when a UK company relocates to the EU - because of the B-thingy - the Europeans require senior staff and support services to actually move office....possibly UK isn't so fussy.
It is good to have some perspective from a SHell insider. Sounds like business as usually, which should hopefully keep the cost of the change low.

Makes me laugh how people say s**1 is an idiot who doesn't know anything about TRMR whilst simultaneously managing to talk down the SP this week....even 'apparently' spreading rumours about a profit warning that are being taken seriously enough for Ofer to address the rumour in the investor presentation.
I expect s**1 is just an annoying person with a grudge against TRMR and is not to be taken seriously.
Something in the results has spooked the market - I don't know what!! - and the next set of results will get things back on track.
PS However I wish I had sold some at circa 840p but didn't!!....hindsight is a wonderful thing.
