JayK, so are you suggesting that the 'storm' we are currently in is as bad as it is gonna get? Next question would then be, "how long will the 'storm' last?"
PS I'm not sure what you mean by 'UK stocks are down at Brexit levels'...the charts I have seen suggest UK stock market is near all time high.

MrA, I'm doing OK thanks. Beginning to baton down the hatches because I sense storm clouds on the horizon. Hopefully things wont get too bad. But like the war in Ukraine, nobody knows how it will end.

I don't think things work that way. The CEO doesn't fall on his/her sword unless directly involved or for a cover up. Venkat could also probably argue that the governance regimen was set up prior to his arrival. It is now about damage limitation and trying to stop it happening again.....until the next time.
It is something we have to live with as BARC investors....it brings 'excitement' to our otherwise dull lives, BARC investing is a rollercoaster of fun!!

The numbers in the Q1 results sound quite good (to a layman). But I expect the devil is in the detail.

The reaction to the over-selling issue reminds me of UK government reaction to partygate, i.e kick the can down the road by having an investigation (I wonder if Sue Gray has been asked to do it!?). SEC fine to pay , plus potentially large civil lawsuits to settle (American lawyers must be very happy) and the possibility of other issues with the fiasco (e.g. unknown status of $2bn of the over-sold notes?).
And they identified a problem with their governance.....go figure Sherlock!!

Conclusion: It could have been worse. Happy days!!

I also fell into the VOD trap. I questioned whether the VOD model was sustainable on forums because the dividend didn't seem to have any cover and I got back "it's all about free cash flow". I never understood that....and it seems that the market didn't understand it either.
VOD had a highly profitable share of an American business that they sold for loads of wonga....then splurged that cash on questionable acquisitions. They would probably have been better keeping the Yank business.
Hopefully LGEN is better run than VOD. The big risk is capital erosion, but if one is lucky to have a low average then no worries.

SP actually rose today (when accounting for the XD)....so not a bad day.
It does concern me with LGEN slightly, is there any growth within the business or is it just an income stock?

I suspect that is what is keeping the SP low. There is an independent inquiry, which may or may not uncover other skeletons in the cupboard and further write-offs. One thing we have learned over the years is that BARC has a knack of shooting itself in the foot. Poor management combined with a risk taking environment seems endemic and shareholder keep agreeing to reward them with ever increasing bonuses.
